Name one band you wish had never broken up.
For me, it would have to be The Stone Roses.

1. Uncle Tupelo.
Although Son Volt and Wilco are terrific as well, nothing beats the original.

9. Saw them in 1992.
That was one of those underrated acts that, with the right push and luck, should have become big.

BUuuuuuuuuuuuuuut instead, luck and fame happen to shite bands like Sugar Ray.

39. Ed Cassidy, the drummer, was Randy Wolf's father-in-law
I don't know if that was before or after he changed his name to "Randy California." But whatever, age gap
notwithstanding, they made some very fine music in their day. Their decision NOT to go to Woodstock proved
to a fatal one.

27. Pantera. Dimebag would still be alive, one of the greatest metal guitarists ever.
Creedance Clearwater Revival. The Beatles. I wish Ozzy would have been able to stay with Black Sabbath and, of course, John Bohnam with Led Zeppelin. Guns N Roses, but I know those guys are happier without Axl.

31. Amen to Pantera
If not only for the music, but also the simple fact that Dime would still be alive. I'm not sure Phil would be though.

I wish White Zombie would have stayed together. They were finally finding their sound in their last couple albums and then they split. I would trade in all of Rob Zombie's albums for just one more White Zombie album.

28. The REAL, ORIGINAL Paul Revere & The Raiders
Edited on Sun Jan-17-10 11:23 AM by Amerigo Vespucci
Sadly, original members Mike Smith and Drake Levin passed away last year. They had a reunion a couple of years ago (with everyone except Revere, ironically).

When Levin left and was replaced by Jim "Harpo" Valley, they were still the Raiders for a while, but when Phil "Fang" Volk, Mike "Smitty" Smith, and Valley took off and were replaced by country star Freddy Weller, Joe Correro Jr. and Charlie Coe (who actually had played with them in 1963) joined, the tough, funny garage band was replaced by a band seeking pop chart success.

They had one more brutal, unexpected album..."Collage," widely recognized as Mark Lindsay's masterpiece...but because it was a major commercial failure, they returned to seeking hits. They had one of their boggest with their cover of "Indian Reservation"...then it was one more studio album with no hits, "Country Wine," and everyone but Revere left. The recording career ended, and the Raiders became a staple of Vegas (although nowadays they spend a major portion of time at Dick Clark's venue in Branson MO).

They were savages back in the day.

But the departure of Drake, then Phil, Mike and Jim, were the end of most of the Good Things.

"Collage" had its moments as did "Pink Puzz", but Mark and the best session men that money can buy were the band. Freddy, Joe and Charlie (then Keith) were the Hired Guns who showed up in tights for the gigs.

I think the last reunion (w/o Paul, who must have been in Branson or something :-( ) was in 1997.

NB: Smitty passed in 2001
