47. The service was absolutely beautiful.

It was standing room only. They had this picture of Markus up on an easel...

It was taken on my last birthday when we went for a picnic. You can see the happiness on his face.

His urn was surrounded by a beautiful wreath of white roses. My sister, bless her soul, got up and gave a brief Eulogy and told everybody how HerrHerr and I met. There were candles burning and the whole atmosphere was comforting and peaceful. I cried like a baby during the whole thing, especially when they played our music, but It was comforting to know that so many people cared about Markus and took time to come and say goodbye and honor him.

that I met Markus. My sister and I had gotten computers in 2000 and she was talking to people all over the planet as pen pals. I asked her how she had done that and she explained to me to go onto AOL, choose a country, select users online and randomly send an im to someone. So on November 19, 2000 I selected Germany, users online and randomly selected Markus. I wrote "do you know your country is so small there are only 7 people online right now?" He was not amused and snapped back "do your know that it is 7:00 am on a Sunday morning right now?"

We struck up a conversation and the next morning I had an email in my inbox from Markus asking if we could talk some more.

The rest is history.

then I came over to Germany to visit him for 3 weeks in March. He came to visit me in the US for a month in May. I came back to Germany to stay with him in August 2001 until October and I finally moved here to be with him in May of 2002. We were married in May of 2003. The best 6 and a half years of my life.
