What's the highest friend count you've seen on Facebook? |
|
There's a former co-worker of mine who has 4,893 friends. I have 32. I feel so lonely.:o

1. I have a friend with 2,960 "friends" |
|
she uses it for her business though and doesn't even know most of those "friends" except as customers or potential customers.
Makes my 158 friends look pretty pathetic though... lol.

I don't feel the least bit lonely. I have put "requests" on ignore, too. I'm wishing I had put one or two of my 20 on ignore, as well. Nothing like seeing frequent posts a former co-worker, who is still at the place where you got laid off nearly three years ago, and is spending her entire day on Facebook complaining that she has to be at work--while you still have no fucking job. Her posts are on "hide."

In fact, I couldn't care less about Facebook. It's nothing but an ego trip for some people. I'm in the same boat as you are; I'm unemployed, too.

I have 1,917 friends (and a few of them are real, hehe). It's really hard to hang tight in MW with anything less than 1500.

10. I never much cared for the idea of collecting friends on Facebook. |
|
The people I'm friends with, I actually like and communicate with.
I never understood the need to keep thousands of friends, many of whom you never actually communicate with. Like it's some sort of contest or something.

12. Me neither. I've added some because they asked and ... |
|
... I know them slightly from high school or something. Most of them are people I actually know.

11. Folks addicted to Zynga games will have thousands. One of my Mafia Wars family |
|
has like 4,300 friends. I have somewhere in the 600s. I keep picking more up as I help strangers in wars, etc. I whacked a guy on the hitlist and 30 seconds later he friended me, which was pretty cool.

I have 144. If someone sends me a request I first ask them if they're from forums (like here) to mention DU (or other forum's name) when sending me the request.
If they seem like a complete stranger I look for mutual friends.... i do a lot of political networking so if there's someone that I don't know and we have a lot of mutual friends I will accept the request. I do play Mafia Wars, but I don't accept friends just for MW.
Anyone on DU who wants to add me, just send me a PM.

but I'm extremely antisocial
4,893 friends seems awfully high... I wonder how many of the people your former co-worker actually knows, and how many were added just so they would have a high friend count...
