I put both plain white mushrooms and marinated mushrooms in my lunch salad |
|
This won't cause an overdose will it?
Are mushrooms high in any particular nutrient?

If those are your average grocery store variety mushrooms, I wouldn't worry about overdosing on them. BTW, they are a decent selenium, the B vitamins, copper, and several other nutrients. Good, and good for you. I love mushrooms!

5. I've never heard of an overdose of edible mushrooms. |
|
In fact, I've heard lots of good stuff about the nutritional value of mushrooms. (I love them and we used to grow king red cap mushrooms.) http://www.vegetarian-nutrition.info/updates/mighty-mushrooms.php

14. It would be hard to OD on hallucinogenic mushrooms, too |
|
The LD50 of dried psilocybin mushrooms is supposedly 1.7 kilos; the LD50 of fresh ones is around 17 kilos.
The man who could hold 38 pounds of mushrooms is not someone you'd want to meet in a dark alley.

I eat a lot of food that would typically make people gassy. I think because I eat this stuff so often, my body figures it out somehow.

8. I was just kidding anyway. Mushrooms don't give gas, and they don't make one smell like a jogger. |
|
Only being soaked in lye and diarrhea can make one smell like a jogger.

10. Mushrooms themselves have zero calories. |
|
Although they probably have other nutrients, minerals, etc. Marinated mushrooms would have as many calories as the marinade they're in. And that's all I know about mushrooms, except, of course, that I wouldn't try any I just happened to find in the woods.

13. Eat one stick (1/4 lb.) of butter. |
|
This will neutralize the toxic phenomes and ozemes that naturally occur in mushrooms.
DO NOT melt the butter and drink it! This can cause severe oral and esophageal burns. Just eat it directly from the fridge, or it may be at room temp for easier mastication. :-)
