I can hear my cat snoring. |
|
She's a very quiet cat. She doesn't meow much. She sometimes chirps and squeaks, but mostly she's the silent-but-deadly kind of menace.
But when she sleeps, deep enough to get curled up tight in a ball with a paw over her face, she makes these adorable rhythmic cooing sounds like a little pigeon.
Is there ANYTHING warmer to hear on a winter night?

2. I once house-sat and cat-sat for a friend of mine |
|
who had this huge fat Russian Blue, who was a wonderful smart lap-warmer of a cat.
So I was sleeping in Terri's bed, and woke up totally freaked out by this LOUD gurgling demonic nightmare noise that sounded like Darth Vader taking bong hits.
Guess what it was?

Give it time, but don't drag your feet when it's time to open up again.
I lost my Marlowe (15 years old, diabetic) and went through a painful breakup-and move-out in the same year.
It took a year of living alone, against my will, before I was like, "fuck this, I'm ready to move on --I'm going to the animal shelter and I'm coming home with a friend. I'm sick of being the only warm mammal in my bed."
Madimi picked ME. She was the Bad Girl at the shelter, she had a reputation. I think the staff hustled me through the interview process before I could change my mind. :D

Kitties make the best sounds. I can't stand dog barking, but I love every sound out of kitties. :loveya:

8. I'm bi that way - I grew up with dogs. |
|
I don't mind their barking cause I'm used to it. Whole yard full of 'em - my parents took in all the local rural dumpees, and there were many (People who dump animals are scum, sorry, and there are too many of them in Appalachia). but I always thought, as a kid, I like dogs, but when I'm grown up and get my own place, I want CATS.
They really are endlessly fascinating and endearing. They don't slobber all over you like dogs do - they require you to study them, like wildlife.
When a CAT falls asleep on you and starts snoring and drooling, you know that MEANS something. :loveya:

10. My ex-SO's cat was very talky. |
|
Still is, from what he tells me. Yowl, yowl, yowl, all the time. Yowl when he's hungry. Yowl when his human is leaving for work. Yowl all night while his human is trying to sleep.
But I remember this cat well when we were all a family. Very late at night, just before dawn, in the very wee hours, when he was curled up at our feet....I would occasionally hear this very little soft nose-breath-snort sound that was not from the SO or me.
Just sayin'. It was there. :loveya:

11. Cat snores are adorable, but when my dog snores (and she does!) |
|
I have to poke her or otherwise wake her up to make her stop. It's not cute when a dog does it.
