Haiti telethon was gorgeous. Absolutely gorgeous.

2. It'd have to be some sorta miraculous to beat this version.
.
Jeff Buckley.
.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WIF4_Sm-rgQ
.
Used to be able to sing that, but about
half-a-note shy of the tops now... not
as impressive or as fun when I have to
drop down instead of rising.
.
And that sustained note at the end...
I think the boys would implode if I tried
to hit that particular height.

7. I love that version, of course. I adore Jeff Buckley. But JT's version, I have to admit,
was on par. I was amazed.

3. I have to admit that I had no respect for Timberlake as a singer until I heard "Dick in a Box"
Chalk it up to my ignorance.

19. Now that you mention it....
.
...I no longer hear anyone say "That MilesColtrane doesn't know "Dick".
.
Yet another victory for the "hold ign'ance at bay" crowd.

31. The only song of his I recall ever having heard him sing was "Dick In A Box".
I had no idea he could sing that well.

5. If Shaun Cassidy had the support from corporate media that Justin Timberlake has
He would have never had to play a string of cheesy cartoonish villans in bad TV shows in the 90s.

Thank God Britney went nuts, or we would have to put up with her forever too.

It was a much better world when bubblegum Disney pop stars never exceeded their 2 year shelf life.

14. Okay, that's pretty f**king good.
But I've always known Justin Timberlake could sing...it's just that he's a bit of a horse's arse and the stuff he usually performs isn't my taste.

15. I'm not a huge fan of Timberlake or contemporary pop in general, but this hit the mark,

in my opinion. And I've gotta give him props for signing Matt Morris (the other guy singing in that video) when he started his own label.

6. i totally agree
It was amazing! I was nearly driven to tears. It was overwhelming seeing all those stars turn out to help all in the same room. And the stories they told of people being pulled out alive...wow.

8. I will have to go check out Justin Timberlake's version
however, in my opinion, nobody does it better than the author himself.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YrLk4vdY28Q

This is the only version that I have found of Leonard starting this song off with the 'secret chord' verse. My favorite of all, even better than Jeff Buckley's version, which I really love.

10. I'm a huge LC fan, and I completely agree.
But even Cohen himself has said how impressed he is with the various covers of "Hallelujah." :hi:

26. which is why he released this version
they say it was after Kate Voegle released her version that LC came around to these popular lyrics. I really don't know. All I know is that I love this version.

17. Matt Morris,

son of 80s country singer Gary Morris, but a very talented singer and songwriter in his own right.

30. Sales guru Jeffrey Gitomer has some interesting things to say about Timberlake...
1). He works his ASS off

2). At his concerts, he gives the fans their money's worth

There was more, but my feeling about Timberlake, even though his music isn't my first choice when it comes to my personal tastes, is that he chose a path and he worked it, and as such, he has my respect.

That's what life's supposed to be about...choose your arena, step in, throw down.
