I lived near New Orleans (and was a kid) when the Saints were founded, and when I lived there it was purely love-hate. Now it's love-love, and believe you me, the city will be happy to have a good aniversary to celebrate in years to come.

21. Yeah, no one will think less of Archie for it. He's a dad, he should cheer his son.

Although Archie tells a story about when Peyton chose Tennessee over Ole Miss. Archie meant as much to Ole Miss as he did to the Saints. The speed limit all over campus is 17, because that's the jersey number Archie wore. He's the most beloved alumni, especially in terms of sports, and he's involved in the campus heavily still.

So when Peyton committed to Tennessee, Columbus felt betrayed. Archie says he got hate mail, and that old friends treated him he'd betrayed them. He says that at one point he stopped at a small gas station he's always used, just outside of campus. He and the owner had become friends over the years. That day he said the owner walked out to the pump to meet him, and told him "I think maybe it would be better if you stopped buying your gas here for a while."

So some people might take it more seriously than others. :rofl:

There was an Ohio State / Notre Dame game, and Brady Quinn's sister was engaged to OSU Linebacker A.J. Hawk (they've since married). For the game, she wore a split jersey. Right side was Notre Dame and Left side was Ohio State.

The French Quarter looked like it was Mardi Gras Day. My daughter said she only had three people show up to her first class this morning and everyone in hubby's office is nursing a hangover.

We had Season Tickets ($23.00 for 7 regular season and two pre-season games) for the 1969 and 1970 seasons in the End Zone. The $23.00 price included Dad's Military Discount. The first NFL game I attended was Saints/Redskins with Lombardi coaching the 'Skins. I remember so clearly emerging from the tunnel to the stands and just being so amazed by the colors....I had only seen NFL games on a Black and White TV up to that point, we didn't have a color TV until 1972. Tulane Games were great fun too. Not to mention the New Orleans Buccaneers ABA franchise. And Mardi Gras season, collecting doubloons, my favorite was the Bacchus Parade. I had such a blast being 10-11 years old and living in New Orleans.......

As we were getting ready to move back to the DC area (Dad wrapped up his PhD studies at Tulane), the Superdome had been approved and Billy Kilmer was traded to the Redskins......

For the annual Cub Scout bake sale, my folks and my little brother made a cake model of the Superdome....It won first place.
