He plays either the straight man or the fool. The jokes are directed toward him and the humor is in his reaction. He can be funny but the first few weeks of him on The Tonight Show were painfully awful.
He states that he did The Tonight Show his way but I have to wonder about that. He should have done everything he did on Late Night on Day ONE and Andy should have been on the couch on Day ONE. I would have watched that but instead he tried to fit into some Leno mold of how to do it. Lame jokes and lame bits about Hollywood.
Oh well. Craig Ferguson is funny.
