This Friday my family decides if my Grandparents are going to assisted living
My Grandfather has been a fall risk for a few years now, but my Grandmother lost one too many toes and she has fallen three times in the last couple of weeks. She has lost all confidence and won't even trust herself to get the paper off the porche.

So, I don't know what is going to happen. I am hoping I get to stay here and maybe rent out my Grandparent's unit. I would hate to move again. :-(

They also just got a puppy for Christmas. I hope they can find someplace that will let them have a puppy.

1. It is a hard move to make. I saw both my grandmothers make it. Tell them that
my grandmother lived for another 21 years after she went into a nursing home. So that they don't feel that their time is up. Really it is up to them and they'll get the support they require right now.

2. Some assisted living places do allow pets
You can shop around with them.

3. My mom is in a terrific place -

she's in Idaho, but the staff is great, each apartment has a lot of privacy, and she has a cat. The place allows dogs, too - not just small ones, either. One of the other women had a Golden retriever :)

Her facility is part of the Regency Pacific Communities - here's the website. I think this covers your area, but I'm not sure: http://www.regencypacificinc.com/

On edit - if you're in Colorado, Regency only covers Cal, Oregon, Washington and Idaho. But they might know of similar facilities in your area.

4. Roon, I hope they find a place that works for them.
My sympathies and my hope to you that they find a place good for them and good for you. I know you're in the area, so I'm here if you want to reach out. Good luck.

5. Best wishes Roon. I've been
following your posts about your Grandma and i hope for all concerned that the transition is an easy one. My Dad's in assisted living and did not want to go there at all. Now, we couldn't get him to leave if we tried :) He loves it there and the staff love him. We're confident he's being taken care of and it's a lot less worry for us.

I hope you're able to stay in your home!

and, maybe they can take the pup with them. One step at a time Roon.

good luck!
