4. The Academy often omits people who die within a month or two of the |

telecast *unless* its a big-name star (i.e. Heath Ledger). Apparently, the segement is prepared waaay in advance, and the Academy -with all their resources- still manages to leave some people out who should have been included; Penny Singleton and Yvonne DeCarlo from recent years come to mind.

...they ahd plenty of time for that one...they could include someone at the last minute, time-wise for the preparation of the piece, but I think it's more the Academy is run by committee, and they take forever deciding who should go in.
