1. thanks for that
ya know, i was raised in the hay day of the hillbilly sound, with the steel guitars, twang, twang, twang. yuck for a hippy child.
just now figuring out how little that has to do with the whole of country music.

2. Some of the music industry's biggest "punks" and "rebels" were country artists...
...Buck Owens got SLAMMED by the Nashville music establishment because they felt his music was "too rock and roll."

So he took out a full page ad in one of the Nashville papers, apologized, and said that from that point on, he would ONLY record pure, TRADITIONAL "Country Music."

His next single?

Chuck Berry's "Johnny B. Goode."

4. The juxtaposition of the young Johnny & June with present-day Cash broke my heart...
...I assumed that when June passed on, Johnny wouldn't be far behind. They were soul mates in the extreme. I remember Trent Reznor's reaction to Cash's version of this song...something like "it's his song now."

i started to just listen, and wasn't even looking. about half way through i caught a glimpse, and was- oh wow, back up here.
