I bought 6 Hammonds tonight. |
I'm thinking of remaking "The 5000 Fingers of Dr. T" with Keith Emerson in the role of Dr. T http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xggFzkyd288

4. Yeah, the only problem is how to turn them all into one big keyboard |
that can still be tilted to the floor on top of the 500 children as they stab knives into it...

5. 1990's outside of Philly... Earl Rice, incredible R&B combo leader. |
. Usually a quartet with a 70-something guitarist, 70-something saxophonist/vocalist who climbed ATOP the bar 2-3 times a night to belt out a song, 70-something Earl on organ, and they always showed up with a new drummer in his 20's. . The drummers didn't blow up or nothin'... they just couldn't get one to stick. . Earl played a BEAUTIFUL Hammond C-3 with one Leslie speaker -- a treat for the eyes and ears. I asked him if the rest of the band disappeared when it was time to load and unload that massive beauty. Nah... they boys they alright. I asked him if he were ever tempted to get a new li'l electronic keyboard with Hammond software in it. -- basically something near-equivalent in sound without the weight of a moderately packed Greyhound bus. . "No," said he, "I love that wooden sound. One thing, though... about the time I turned 65, I stopped accepting second-floor gigs. . Miss me some Earl, I do. .

8. You're like a broken Hammond. |
Are you, thus, only right twice a day?
:P
