One place in the US where there's still lots of upward mobility....

The soaps! Where else can a young woman who does nails end up a multi-millionaire and a well-paid executive of a large corporation? Or a young man who started out as a pool boy for a wealthy family marry to boss's daughter and end up a multi-millionaire and a well-paid executive of a large corporation?

The rich people on the soaps, apparently don't mind marrying someone whose socioeconomic status is way below theirs.

3. And the media conglomerates are even snuffing those out
soon, the only ones left will be the Spanish-language telenovelas.
