My Macintosh (I guess I should upgrade from 10.3.9) will not let me download Adobe Flash, no matter how many times I've tried.

I'd love to watch it.

7. I use the Real Player browser for stuff that will not play on Firefox.

Maybe that will help?
For some reason I cannot watch Cspan videos on Firefox, but the RP browser works fine.
Also some online shopping sites will not display with out RPlayer.
Otherwise I don't bother with Real Player.
