He won an Oscar and is an amazing craftsman. I actually like Brad Pitt's acting, which has been overshadowed by his (now fading) looks.

Sure, he looks different than he did in "Thelma and Louise", but he is still one fine looking mo-fo, imho.

Welcome to DU!:)

Oh, and one of my favorite underrated actors is JK Simmons.

That "Meet the Fockers" was great. And he was a great back-up to Billy Crystal in "Analyze This".

29. Well, I don't know if he's critically underrated, but I've often thought that
Jeff Bridges should have had Michael Douglas's career - Bridges is a far more versatile and deeper actor and could have played any of Douglas's roles while Douglas certainly could not have played many of Bridges's roles (such as the Starman). I guess Bridges has the consolation that because his career was based on talent rather than bankability, he's remained relevant in today's acting scene, but he should have enjoyed the best of both worlds.

74. I sometimes have trouble believing that the same actor
played The Dude and Charles Howard (Seabiscuit). He plays complete opposites and does them equally well.

I would say he's underrated as far as talent goes. No one puts him up there with DeNiro and Pacino, but I think he belongs there.

I wouldn't mourn his career much, though. He's been in Iron Man, Seabiscuit, The Big Lebowski, Texasville, Tucker, and a lot of other lucrative and acclaimed films. And he's not dead yet. He's playing Marshal Rooster Cogburn in the Coen Brothers' remake of True Grit. Michael Douglas--who is a decent actor but lacks range--is doing a sequel to "Wall Street." So Bridges is winning there.

Michael Douglas will always have to live with the fact that he will never be as cool as his dad, too. I think Bridges has at least matched his famous father. :)

just my weak opinion. :)

Weitz was so intense on Hill Street Blues as Belker, the resident Serpico-like under cover cop, then sort of dropped off the map. The only parts he plays now are bit parts as nerdy characters.

Ken Howard is also spot on in everything he does, but he's so pasty looking that he only gets really bland parts.

41. Oda Yuji

in Tokyo Love Story he was awesome however where he really shined was playing the part of a rookie Tokyo Police officer in the movie Bayside Shakedown (Odoru daisosasen and Odoru daisosasen II).

In the film, someone kidnaps the Chief of Police, shortly after he is transfered to the new department, and He, the rookie cop is the one who finds the kidnappers by accident! There were some very intense scenes as well as some rather funny ones!

Oda Yuji has been a while for quite some time, doing many J-doramas however, he has been very underrated in Japan. I would love to see him get a few more starring roles. He is very good!

about the Sam Elliot School of Acting. He had only one trick in his arsenal, which you can clearly see in the pictures you posted - head tilted down, gazing upward through his eybrows. He apparently did graduate one disciple ----- Mark Harmon.

He is one great voice-over artist however. And he does what he can to keep the Western genre alive. And he had the good sense to marry Katharine Ross. They seem very happy, an unusual Hollywood marriage.

When a new agent asked him what the Medical Examiner...played by David McCallum..looked like when he was younger, Harmon's character hesitated..and then said "Ilya Kuryakin". The young agent had no idea who that was...

Fortunately he is getting noticed more and more.
