Satan & Adam
.
I saw this blues duo around 1990. Satan looked like he was about
150 years old, dressed in about 9 layers of winter clothing in a
hot, packed bar. Adam looked like the epitome of a 30-something
yuppie-fuck. Visually, there was NOTHING connecting these two.
.
The whole bar was on its feet before the first song was halfway
through... and didn't sit down again 'til they were through.
.
They're primarily street-corner Harlem performers. I told my
friend (who had seen them several times) that they had the
shittiest equipment I had ever seen on a stage.
.
My friend told me (wisely), "They didn't want to lose that
street-corner sound."
.
This is their own song, "She's So Pretty". Just over 4:00 in,
there's a tasty little riff of The Beatles' "Get Back". The
lyrics make me think of The Rolling Stones.
.
A lot of girls they were listenin' to a transistor radio.
They were havin' fun.
I did some tall, tall talkin'.
I got me one.
Lordy, let me tell y'all that woman was so pretty.

1. Holy Shit! I thought they had a third musician who was a drummer
But that dude is playing the guitar, singing, and playing percussion at the same time.

4. They DID use a drummer from time-to-time...
.
...although I can't figure out WHY. It may have had something
to do with some pretty serious health issues plaguing Satan
(that was unintended, sorry) since the mid-90's.
.
And, by the way, they were shot in performance on the street
in Harlem in U2's "Rattle & Hum" film.
