We are goind to dine at the Country Club for our 17th anniversary in March...Can I
still post here? I am certain it is GOP as all hell, and wore middle class than any place I have been to for years, but the broiled lobster tail, scallops and crab cake special brung me right on around.
I might have to wear real pants and polished loafers, though....

Hate me it you must, I'm goin'.

2. HC, there are about 8 Olive Garden's within a day's drive from here, and
I have never been to one.

We have so many great local restaurants, I don't like to eat at any chains...our favorite Italian place is owned and run by a couple from Sicily who worked for a decade or so in New York City and make the absolute best southern Italian food I have ever had.
The hardest part of deciding where to go was looking through the 30 some pages of restaurant listings in the local phone book.

Stay warm.

3. I am shocked--shocked that a DUer belongs to the Country Club.

:silly:

I'm sure it is GOP as all hell, but the local Country Club is a good place to make contacts.

The food sounds good.....

10. I don't belong - the restaurant is public. I understand the food is great -

in this area, even average restaurants don't last long, and this one has been open for over 60 years.

I knew several people who belong to one or the other of the local clubs, and I would not want to eat with any of them.

4. Why don't you just come out and admit it: you think Lieberman is the only real Democrat.
You didn't have the courage to say it outright, but your very silence screams it out for all the world to hear.

What's next? Polo shirts?

11. Used to wear polo shirts to work - the little horsies and the Izod Lacoste
gators.

Threw them away when I retired to sponge off the government and the young.

Actually, MY Senator is......Arlen Specter.

5. Just shout something progressive over your shoulder as you leave.
That should take care of it.

6. the "wearing pants" thing is alway a good idea at the CC
worked in CCs through college - good money, and no one grabbing your ass, which is a plus if you're a college girl.

I do remember a fixation on men actually wearing pants to dinner, though.....

7. I go to country clubs all the time - I play in a band.

Of course, I'm treated like the rest of the staff (which is fine by me - the staff are the cool people at the club!).

Just bond with the staff - you'll have a great time (and probably get a few free drinks, too).

9. I will wear pants instead of jeans. I bought 6 pairs of jeans when I retired,
and have worn them almost exclusivly in the 3 years since. Probably khakis and a navy blazer, but I can't decide whether to go with the penny loafers or the Italian tassel loafers in oxblood...
I hope all that shit still fits me.
