Good morning Lounge
How are you today?

My morning was adventureous. It took me over an hour to get to work, normally it takes only 30 minutes. There was an accident on the way. First, my train didn't come. When it came it would only go so far. I had to take the bus to another train station. Of course it is snowing this morning and it is windy so that the waiting period would be even more fun. Then it took ages till the bus came. I finally made it to work but my feet were ice blocks.

1. Sounds like a good day for cocoa
That must be a lot of snow, to stop a train.

I think the rule is that if you get to work late, you have to leave early. That keeps everything balanced.

5. Good morning JustABozo
:hi:  :loveya:

The train was delayed because of an accident. The bus was delayed because of the snow. Frankfurt isn't used to snow anymore. Even though we had a lot of snow this season already the traffic gets stuck everytime there is a snowflake on the ground ....

Won't be able to leave early today. There is an event at 6.15pm here at work that I want to attend.

Hope everything is alright with you :hi:

2. Hi MissHoneychurch
You are dealing with this dastardly snow too? I want it to STOP NOW! Jill and I are having to walk to the store and her back just went out and I'm on crutches and it's made all the worse by this damned snow. Enough already.

I'm sorry you had such a time getting to work. I'm sure your boss was understanding. We are wearing two pairs of socks whenever we go out. It helps a little bit.

I love the picture of the day, where was it taken?

:hi: :loveya:

6. Hi there sweetie
:hi:  :loveya:

Yes, we are "dealing" with the snow too. Seems like the traffic isn't able too. :eyes:

Boss understood. I called to let him know I would be in later.

OMG You two need to take care of yourself!!! Can't a neighbor or so go shopping for you?

The picture was taken at the Burg Teck near Stuttgart (Schwäbische Alb)

16. Make it stop!
It just keeps coming down in buckets. The sound of snow shovels rings throughout the neighborhood! I like how employers are so flexible here when the trains don't run on time :)

My neighbors are afraid of me I think. They think I'm going to start speaking to them in English. They avoid me like the plague! We are a sorry sight. She's hunched over and I'm limping along on my canes. We'll be alright. Maybe I'll call a taxi to take us home.

Got "The Alchemist" today for the book club, so I will start reading on my way home. Perfect timing. Finished the book I was reading yesterday evening.

9. Good Afternoon, MissH
Sorry I haven't been around. We've been buried under a huge amount of snow, so my work has been closed all week and I've been sleeping in. The only reason I'm awake right now is because I suddenly remembered something that has to be done before tomorrow and I've been frantically sending off emails to try and coordinate it. I've done about all I can do, so I think I'm going back to bed.

How are you?

 :loveya:

Good idea to sleep in. I will be able to do that coming week.. FINALLY :D

I am doing fine. Except for the incident this morning. My social life has picked up. So I've been busy the last few weeks. Tuesday I will go to a book club. I have to read "The Alechmist" by Paul Coelho for it.

I'm so mad that my brain wouldn't let me this morning.

It sounds like you are having fun - social lives are good! If "The Alechmist" is the book I'm thinking of, I've heard it's good.

Seems like we both had a fun-fuckin-tastic start in the day

i guess about two car lengths was not space enough going 55 mph was not enough for him when i merged into the right hand lane to get off for work.

oh well, i guess this means i cannot work effectivly today as i am tramutized by his gesture. it means i will have to have a beer instead.

Sounds reasonable to me. You have my blessing to go and have a beer ... but not an American one. I'd opt for a Guinness :D

11. Very nice picture!
Good morning Miss Honey Church. I don't envy your commute. I used to do the train thing for a few years and you certainly appreciate the weather a great deal morn than if you drive.

As for me I am living on Coffee and Ibuprophen. Spent 3 and a half hours cleaning snow and worked a volunteer shift last night. If I sit for a a few minutes it's tough to get back up and the coffee doesn't seem to be helping.

Normally it isn't bad. Except when there is an accident or a strike. I live too far away as to be able to walk to work. When it got warm again (if that ever happens this year) I will try to take the bike.

Ouch!! Poor you. Is there a chance you can stay home today?

:hi:

Sorry to hear the transportation troubles--in winter, no less. :( It's cold here, and there's a winter storm watch for the south part of the state, but we aren't expecting snow.

It's almost vacation time! :woohoo:

and you're right, if I did have one, I'd think twice about playing in the cold.

It's better to stay inside and listen to live bands.

38. not so much for me
my last two lounge threads got about two replies each.

Of course the one was perhaps too serious for the lounge.

I also find now that my sister (RevActs) has been missing from the lounge since June, and perhaps some others. Oedi seems to be gone too.

37. Good morning, Miss Honeychurch!
I am on my fourth snow day this week. Finally got my work laptop configured to use my home modem--- so I am happy to join you this a.m.! :)

I think we are finally coming out of the "week from hell" (snowstorm, power outage, blizzard, roads closed), and I'm starting to run out of things to do. I have even finished all the school work I brought home "just in case" we are cancelled. Who would have predicted that school would be closed for an entire week!

Sorry you had such a harrowing morning. Thanks for the gorgeous photo. It looks warm and sunny!
