1. My experience with that has been strange... |
|
I have gotten in touch with a lot of folks I haven't seen in 35 years or so (I changed States/schools between my jr and sr years). Even most of the folks I didn't get along with have grown up (as I hope I have) and it's fun to talk with them.
There is just one that is the exact same self consumed arrogant prick he was back in HS. Some people never move beyond those years.

2. haven't gotten requests from assholes |
|
just people I didn't know well.
They, and everyone else I've looked up on FB from HS, seem to be rw conservative Christian Republicans (or libertarian).
I've hidden them from my feeds and don't post much of anything they can see - I don't care about them, and have no interest in communicating with them. So I don't.

ignored a couple requests from 'friends of friends'. no meanness there, they just don't make the cut.

4. You might be missing a bit on some of them... |
|
people do change and over a period of time become quite different from the hormone and angst-ridden teens of your youth. Might be worthwhile to at least make contact and see how it works out. There may be some pleasant surprises for you if you take time to make contact. Just deep six those who have not changed.

i've decided it okay for me to hold a grudge. :P
it's a big wide world, with plenty of cool people, the jerk-offs can find other people to annoy.
it was amazing how friendly the jocks suddenly became with the stoners once they discovered the kin' bud.
guys who used to call me 'fag' thought i would spark up with them.
with MY weed, of course. as if.
anyway, i now live 1000 mile away from where i grew up. it's not like we'd be getting together for cook-outs.

6. some of the people I didn't necessarily like in HS have grown up into |
|
people who are pretty nice to connect with
conversely, some people I did like in HS have turned into freepers, so I have hidden their feed and restricted their ability to see my own status updates
