17. I'm thinking that the lack of an island and Jacob
means that all kinds of things changed. Like him getting his appendix out at a young age and having a kid. I thought we'd see the mom. It's going to be Kate, isn't it.

19. The kid is too old to be Kate's. Probably too old to be Jack's first wife. But...
They may save that for a big reveal. Or they may let it turn out to be Libby (that would be cool, but I think they're saving Libby for Hurley, plus there's still a very good chance Libby was working for Widmore before she was killed).

I'd respect the show a little more if they don't ever show who the mom is; she's not important to Jack. The point is that despite all his daddy issues and his daddy's terrible parenting, in both timelines he "has what it takes." They have to redeem him before they kill him off in the final episode.

23. I could live with no reveal.
People would be pissed, though. I think it is going to be a "crap your pants" reveal. Could be Juliet's (they are both doctors) or, even jucier, Juliet's sister's.

I would love to see him killed off in the final episode. That would take some balls. Something J.K. Rawling didn't have.

25. In the last episode, I want to see Jacob & Smokey defeated; no one trapped on the island.
That would make it more about free will. The producers have said that in this season we will see a final resolution to the Locke-Jack conflict. That means either 1) Locke's not dead, 2) the show down will occur in the alternate timeline (unlikely) or 3) Locke's personality is going to be able to take over Smokey's will in Locke's body.

29. Well, hell, if that's the case then Jack can save him down at the Staff station
He was a red shirt. They really don't need to make his death all that realistic.

I've really always admired how much the Others are able to just ignore the total carnage the Losties have been able to dump on them over the years. The survivors are running something like a 10 to 1 kill ratio. Hell, Jack Shepherd might've won Vietnam if they'd handled that whole time jumping thing a little better.

21. No no no, 108 is all the numbers added up together. 108 is a diversion.
Jacob (who I'm convinced will turn out to be as big a bad guy as Smokey) wanted Jack to destroy the mirrors in the lighthouse--to quit believing in destiny and fate. Jacob wants to wrangle Jack into running the island now that Jacob's dead.

24. I might agree
but there were names for pretty much all the numbers (at least I didn't see any blanks). So there would be a name for 108.

I have thought Jacob was going to be bad for a very long time. Have you read "The Bad Twin"? The somewhat crappy book they did as a spin off of the series. That explores the concept of the twin that appeared to be bad was actually the good one and vice versa. I think they are doing that with Jacob and Smokey.

So I knew Grommit wasn't on there. Horton, however, is on there twice.

I don't know who Wallace was but he/she must have been pretty special to have gotten the #108 distinction.

48. More interestingly, "Linus" is crossed out.
Is that why Jacob never wanted to have anything to do with Ben? Was he never a candidate, yet his father was? Or was Ben a candidate and Jacob excluded him for reasons other than death?

but no one's really done that sort of thing since the Ottoman Empire, so Ben is right off the list after having murdered Jacob.

57. I dunno, I tend to think that Ben either never was a candidate or got crossed off earlier.
Why did Jacob never want to have anything to do with him?

Why did he develop a tumor on an island that seemed to heal everyone else?

Seems like the island had been done with him for some time.

44. all I know is that LOST better deliver a boat load of answers next week
As a huge LOST fan, I found myself getting very irritated at the show last night for the following reasons:

- Hey Jacob, let's try NOT to be an enigmatic tool for a change, shall we? Not speaking up and giving people answers is what got you killed in the first place so come the hell on!

- Jack, I'm sure finding out you have no free will is creepy and all, but maybe looking up Hugo's number first before smashing the looking glass would have been polite. I mean hell, the guy was literally standing right next to you. Selfish prick. Or maybe you could have climbed up the rock for your self imposed time out brooding fest without smashing shit first? Yes? No?

- So in the flashback last season when Jacob touches Jack, he does so while also explaining that Christian was being a dick to Jack because Jack needed a little nudge. The message? Christian isn't an overbearing dick, he just loves Jack and the push was actually helpful parenting. BUT in the side flash, Dogan runs into Jack at little David's super secret piano thing and basically tells him parents shouldn't be overbearing dicks and push their kids to work harder. All I know is that I refuse to take parenting advice from either of Jacob or Dogan because they're both enigmatic tools. I would tell Jack to do the same, but he has no free will so whatever.

- The "infection". This nonsense needs to be answered pronto because calling someone "infected" after poking them, electrocuting them, branding them, and attempting to poison them is like Dick Cheney calling Guantanamo Bay prisoners "emotionally unstable" after being water boarded 50 times. Seriously Temple idiots, are you testing for infection or causing it?
