Just stopping by to let those who care know that my dad passed away quietly early Saturday morning. My mom and I were with him.

He was my hero and the most significant relationship of my life. He will be unspeakably missed.

I will share some of my experience here one day soon, from cancer and hospice to the moment of death and the arrangements. I will not be online much over the next few days but will need a place to process this myself in the coming weeks.

I can give one word of advice that has nothing really to do with death and that is make time in your life for the people you love. There is never enough so try to appreciate that which you are given.

21. My heart goes out to you. I lost my Dad this past December

and I will miss him forever. We are all 5 years old again when we lose a parent. No matter how well we "know" that the day will come, someday, we are never really ready.
