would you order turtle in a restaurant?
Turtle soup?

Turtle kebab?

Turtle hash?

Turtle pot pie?

Does any of it sound good?

Have you ever cooked turtle?

Serious research here.

1. I've had turtle soup; it was very good
Haven't seen turtle-anything on a menu around here - it's not really a part of CA cuisine, I guess...

2. Snapping turtle meat is excellent.
There is nothing better. But I've never had it in soup.

11. ...
 yum
love those. Might try real turtle if it was served, not really interested in seeking it out, though.

5. sure would and have
it's soft shell turtle and it's prob. farmed, but it's still good stuff with a little dob of sherry, turtle soup is a traditional southern/new orleans food

i wouldn't catch my own turtles for food w.out looking into what licenses you might need to do that and i prob. wouldn't do it at all, doesn't seem sporting to me, too easy to walk out and just pick up a turtle, as i've done many times for photos

but served in a restaurant, assuming you think the restaurant is legit (commander's palace!) then no problem

6. I love Snapper Soup
I order it whenever I get the chance. I first had it when I was a child. It's probably my favorite soup.

8. I've never eaten turtle, but I'd certainly try it as long as I was sure the meat didn't
come from any endangered species.

10. Turtle soup
with a splash of sherry on top. Broussard's Restaurant in New Orleans has the best I have ever tasted by far. I have also had fried turtle, very white meat but does not taste like chicken. I don't think I would ever venture to cook it myself.

14. I share that repulsion
But a hella lot of people apparently eat turtle and might be drawn to it on a menu.

15. Only snapping turtle...
Their populations are in good shape. I would not eat it in any Asian restaurant or Asian country. There's a big black market for endangered species. I know several turtle biologists. One or two of them have discovered undescribed species in markets in parts of southeast Asia. On fellow I know is caring for dozens of exotic turtles that were smuggled into this country for the restaurant trade, most of which are endangered species.
