I am respectfully asking to be tombstoned
Several months ago, someone who has been stalking me for years found me online. At that time I asked Skinner to TS me, but then nothing came of it and I started to think that maybe "he" had gone away.

He did not.

This morning he emailed me dozens of times with tons and tons of information he has been "collecting" from my DU posts that he found on google.

You gave all been great- I love DU and am not asking for this for any other reason than that I don't want this psychopath knowing any more about me than he already does.

Best to all of you.

2. Why not explain it to Skinner and see if he'll let you change your screen name?

5. Wouldn't the new name show up if you already had a link to the post of the old name?

7. You mean like
if the stalker had bookmarked one of her posts from a year ago? You may be right. That wouldn't work at all if you're correct.

8. I DU Google searched an old post from Hypontoad.
It says Hypnotoad on the list of replies but if you actually read his post it says Deja Q.

Start from scratch as a new user?

3. My dear LibraLiz1973...
I've heard about cases like yours, and you can ask Skinner to allow you a new username, while keeping your posts intact...

He's done that before.

Don't let this creep drive you away, sweetie...

Talk to Skinner.

6. I am worried that by keeping the posts intact might mean he could
still find me?

I don't know... I am just so DONE with his craziness.

10. You're right. A name change won't help.
I changed my name for a similar reason.

And now - if you search on my old username, my old posts show up in google, and on the top half of the thread where all the numbered responses are listed, my old name shows. And when you scroll down, my new name is what shows on the actual post. So it takes 2 seconds to find what my new name is, it was no help at all.

You'd be better off starting completely fresh, registering (with skinner's permission) a brand new name and starting as a newbie instead of trying to keep your old posts attached to the new ones.

11. actually I think having flvegan
pay the stalker a "personal visit" would be the BEST idea!

Can skinner eradicate old posts so they no longer show up anywhere? Or not tie the new name to the old name?

13. I don't know, going back and deleting old posts sounds like it'd be time consuming and difficult.
But I don't know for sure.
Honestly, I don't know about the other thing too. I think probably starting fresh with a new account sounds like the best idea.
I hate to see anybody leave DU because of some cretin stalking them.

15. I had a stalker in the past
Edited on Wed Mar-03-10 08:27 PM by RainDog
he entirely freaked me out when he contacted me 18 years after we'd met ONE TIME when he sold cards door-to-door.

He let me know all the information he'd been collecting about me and my sister.

The creepiest thing is that he showed up at my father's funeral.

If you know the identity of this person, contact the police. And ask his service provider to cooperate in locating him after you have a complaint filed.

And don't reveal your old name to anyone except people you were close to on here.

Having a stalker is not fun.. I had a stalker several years ago.. best of luck to you!

21. Dear Creepy Stalker of LibraLiz1973: YOU. ARE. CRAZY. Get help, Sicko.
As for you, Liz, call the cops. And keep calling every single last law enforcement professional you can until someone helps. Also, document. And Lawyer.

Good luck with the respectful TS'ing. I guess you could always try, "Tombstone me now, Skinner!!!" if you have to.
