2011 Mustang-305 HP AND 31 MPG! |
|
http://jalopnik.com/5485162/2011-ford-mustang-v6-first-300-hp+-car-to-achieve-31-mpg2011 Ford Mustang V6 EPA certification just finished and, though Ford predicted 30MPG from their 305HP 3.7-liter V6, they actually got 31. According to Ford, it's the first 300HP+ car ever to return over 30MPG. Having cake, eating it too. USA! USA! USA! :wow:

|
My 2001 Trans Am with the 350hp LS1 v8 and 6 speed manual has gotten 31mpg on the interstate to Georgia.

6. I don't think you'll get 31 mpg if you want to make use of that horsepower. |

8. No, they lowered the estimates in 08 |
|
I've always gotten better than the EPA estimates in every vehicle I've driven, except my Dodge Dakota currently because its winter. I can't seem to get anymore than 14mpg out of it, yet during summer it can easily get 17mpg.

31 mpg isn't that great - ok, sure it has 300hp.
Why not apply that kind of effort on improving mpg to something more reasonable, like a Focus?
Isn't that about the same mpg as a Focus?
On that subject, why is it they haven't produced a hybrid Focus yet?
I'm not impressed - seems like just a way to justify using more gas than necessary to be "cool".
Let me know when they get a 50+mpg vehicle.

11. Most of the time a Ford Focus can average 30+mpg for most drivers. |
|
I expect the new Mustang's v6 to average anywhere from 20 to 25mpg.
