What music have you listened to lately? |
|
I'm still watching American Idol, so I heard those performances. I think America did a good job with who they sent home tonight. Thought Didi was worse than Michelle, but they both weren't very good. So far, the only guy who impresses me is Casey James. Michael is decent, and Aaron Kelly improved. I think the judges WAY overrate Alex Lambert and Andrew Garcia. Don't even think those two have a good tone to their voices. And I think Vote For The Worst must be keeping Tim Urban around. The girls are better IMO, but had their share of bad moments, too. Thought Crystal and Lilly were wonderful. Paige, Lacey, and Katelyn were good (Katelyn just slowed down The Scientist too much - but I like her voice.) Katie and Siobhan were ok. Haeley, Didi, and Michelle were pretty bad IMO.
I'm not a fan of Danny Gokey - and thought the song he performed was generic country.
Here are some recommended albums I have heard lately:
Butch Walker - I Liked It Better When You Had No Heart Corrine Bailey Rae - The Sea Hana Pestle - This Way Lesley Gore - 20th Century Masters

3. Idol was the only "music" I listened to today. |
|
I thought it would be Didi, too. I missed Crystal's performance last night, but it looks like she is the front-runner among the women. I like Lilly too. I was kind of bummed seeing three black and the one Asian performers being eliminated at once. Wonder who is voting!
Among the men, Lee is my favorite. I liked Danny Gokey when he was a contestant, but didn't care for the song he performed tonight. I don't remember him as a "country" singer---???

Though it does seem like the Asian contestants are eliminated early every year. Michael Park wasn't too bad the first week. Lee reminds me too much of a Daughtry type, personally - and I don't like Hinder, the group that did what he sung. But what's neat about AI is that we all have our favorites.
My favorite women:
Crystal Lilly Katelyn Lacey
Favorite men:
Casey Michael Aaron Todrick

10. I'm listening to a CD of symphonies by Mozart. |
|
The twist is, they are symphonies by Leopold Mozart, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's father. I knew he was a respected violinist and music teacher. But I didn't know he was an accomplished composer, too. He wrote nearly 500 pieces of his own. When I found that out, I quickly purchased a CD of his compositions.
They're pretty good. You can tell where ole Wolfgang got his chops...

15. There's not much new music I like lately |
|
There will be a lot of new CDs I want later in the year(Britney, Avril, Kelly Clarkson, Madonna).
American Idol is pretty bad this year. I agree about Andrew Garcia...I'm not a fan. Andrew actually reminds me of Danny Gokey (who I strongly dislike). I like Casey James too but he picked a bad song this week. That song is so over done on the show and is usually sung by contestants who aren't strong performers because it's a "safe" song. Casey is better than that song. Tim Urban is getting by because he's cute and has a nice smile. Alex is one of the stronger male singers but he's still uncomfortable on stage (it makes it uncomfortable to watch).
The girls are better but it is still not a strong season. Katie bugs me for some reason. Haeley was bad. I remember her from the auditions and I wouldn't have even sent her to Hollywood. I really don't like Lilly. She's the most overrated singer but is different which the judges love. Lacey's voice kind of bugs me and she needs to learn to work the stage better. Didi is boring and won't last much longer. I thought Michelle was a good singer but I didn't like the Creed song.
I predicted the guys correctly this week. I thought Didi and Lacey would be the girls going home.
Katelyn is my prediction for the winner. She's a good singer, is likable, and looks the part of a popstar. I think either Siobhan or Crystal will join Katelyn in the finals.

Not unusual for Idol. I thought Lilly was as good as Crystal. As for winner, I wouldn't rule out Katie. She seems the type that would resonate with the audience. She's not bad, but so far hasn't really stood out to me. I do think Casey's song choice wasn't as good, but I can see him has an old-time rocker. Lots of talent there with Casey IMO.

21. I've been enjoying... |
|
-- The new one from Surfer Blood (actually, it's their debut, so I guess "the new one" is kind of redundant...)
-- Charlotte Gainsbourg "IRM"
-- the new Flaming Lips, "Embryonic"
All pretty solid albums, IMHO.
