An earthquake map, courtesy of my local free paper...
This really brings home the risks: The view is to the north...

1. I saw a map like that once for my area,
and it freaked me out!

I was watching Gordon Ramsey's kitchen re-do show last night, and he was at a restaurant in Manhattan Beach called Lido...have you ever heard of it?

:)

4. My dear Suich!
Yeah, this map makes it personal...

I've heard of the Lido.......never been there, though.

We tend to be home-bodies!

2. I'm in an earthquake-free zone, so no worries here.
However, I did almost freak when I misread your heading as "An earthquake map, courtesy of my local freeper..."

5. My dear kentauros!
Now, that's funny!

The map was published in the local free paper, called the Easy Reader. I know the owner, and he is no freeper! He would be amused, I think!

The paper started up in the early 70's and was a counter-culture paper for a long time.

7. That sounds like one we used to have here called "the Public News"
though it's nickname was "the Pubic News" due to some of the ads in the back pages ;)

Many of those writers ended up at The Houston Press, the best and most liberal weekly we have in town :hi:

6. My dear BurtWorm...
I'm in the green part, the Compton Thrust Fault, in Manhattan Beach...

Those names sure are!

Scary too...:scared:

I know that there are faults right underneath me, but somehow this map makes it a lot more real...

10. I'm sorry
even though it's not my fault.

Stay safe!

11. Thanks, sweetie...
We're doing what we can, you know.

The house is very well built. We have provisions for power outages, and food and water storage...

Not to worry...

It's not something I have any control over.

8. When Herb Caen compiled his amusing column in the S.F. Chronicle
made up of interesting observations from around the San Francisco Bay area, he told of a graffiti sighting at U.C. Berkeley. Above a long crack in a building's foundation someone wrote,"San Andreas fault?" In different handwriting someone (re)marked, "No, the contractor's!".

9. My dear mazipanni!
Oh, that's hilarious!

I always read him, all the years I lived up there...many!

Thanks for the anecdote...
