Don't really understand the term, but my research group wants me to do it for Twitter purposes, which I don't really understand, either.

I'm trying (and I know that this is a tough nut to crack) to explain, in layman's terms, about a new compound for the treatment of cystic fibrosis.

Would you guys read some of this and criticize me, please? I want to do it right.

1. really short
this is what I get from your blog:

when you started trying to understand CF, science recognized that chloride didn't get transported out of cells, and was grappling with the why of that.

Transporting chloride out of cells doesn't really do anything to prevent or reverse CF.

Glutathione is a second anion that gets transported out of cells, and chemotherapy would prefer t not get transported out.
But that's good to know because it helps to narrow the search for what does get transported out of cells to 'the realm of anions'

Thiocyanate is a third anion that does get transported out of cells, and is very effective at killing pathogens that are directly linked to CF.

At this point you are leaning strongly in the direction that the inability of cells to transport thiocyanate out of cells is at or near the root of CF ? So, how to "fix" the transport system (CFTRs) and / or how to get thiocyanate to the cell membrane is the solution you think you are looking for.

I know that's really short and sloppy, but if I'm in the ball park, then your blogging is very good. :)
At he very least, I will say what you've blogged is both readable and interesting.
