"Pick a church, any church" campaign
In my area, there is a group of Christian leaders pushing the "Pick a Church, any Church" campaign.

Every church in the area has a sign, and many homes have a sign in their yards.

While I do like that they're not pushing one particular denomination, as a non-Christian, I find it a bit offensive, as my answer is NO. I will NOT pick a church, and I kind of resent being told to.

Maybe I'm being a bit over-sensitive, but I still don't like it.

For a news story on the campaign: http://www.thetelegraph.com/news/church-37036-churches-wood.html

Something else I read said that the city mayor has made phone calls "inviting people" to attend church. THAT really angers me, as that seems like a government endorsement of Christianity.

Any thoughts? Am I being overly sensitive here?

1. I agree with you. It makes my skin crawl.
Churches are creepy. I can't stand them. Whenever I see one I think: "Well, there is a colossal waste of space and resources."

2. Me too.
Years ago, I used to take the bus through a very poor neighborhood on my way to work. We'd wind our way through small, old, badly maintained houses, and then all the sudden there would be a gigantic, nearly new megachurch, with the obligatory Mercedes out front in the pastor's reserved parking space. I always thought to myself how much money, energy, time and enthusiasm drawn out of that neighborhood to build and maintain that eyesore could do if it went to fixing up the housing instead. At first it made me want to cry, but over time it mostly just pissed me off.

Fuck religion.

3. Don't tell them about Unitarian Universalists!
Atheists, agnostics and even pagans and the confused darken their doors!!
