exercising. I just read an article that said excercise doesn't really work well to help people loose weight. You must excercise 90 minutes a day for it to make you loose weight. Better to watch your diet.

3. I'm glad you're losing weight! |
|
But it is simply not true that exercising must be done for 90 minutes every day in order for you to lose weight.
Exercise is really important, because it helps you burn those calories that cause the weight gain in the first place.
I try to go to the gym 3 times a week, and I don't work out for 90 minutes either. Still, my little workouts have helped me a lot.
Plus, I feel much better, stronger and I sleep better when I work out.
Give it a try! Even going for a walk a few times a week will help.

5. I'll try and find the article online for you Peggy. I know excercise is healthy. I just hate it. But |
|
seriously there was an article in today's Ottawa citizen I think that talked about how excercise was no way to loose lots of weight.

But really, you need both exercise and diet for the best weight loss.

9. Peggy I can't get the link to cut and past but if you search "Ottawa+Citizen excercise" the article |
|
pops up. It is really long. The article is by "Sharon Kirkey, Canwest News Service March 6, 2010"

7. Yep. I actually had a few carbs in weeks 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8. But I still lost |
|
10 pounds a month for two months. I figure that is a healthier way to loose than if I stayed true to the low carb diet all the time. I don't miss potatoes so much as I miss milk and yogurt (they contain surgars so are a big nono but cheese is okay because it is protein and fat).

10. I had the same thing - I really wanted toast with jelly (simple tastes) |
|
so I had it, got over it, realized that I can just go back and it's no problem, not the end of the world. Losing weight every week so far, and I expect it will continue till it stops on its own. It was a month on the 5th of March. Nothing else has ever worked for me, and this is about as painless as it gets.

11. What would be really impressive to hear is: "I lost 20 pounds a year ago |
|
and still have not regained it." The trick is not in losing the weight, but in keeping it off. Ask Oprah or Kirstie Alley.
The only "diet" that truly works is one is one that you continue to have for the rest of your life in order to sustain your life. So if on 7 March 2011 all of that lost weight is still off, then that will be outstanding.

15. Absolutely. I realized when I started this diet that many of the changes I was making were permanent |
|
And I try to change my thinking as time goes on to make me a different eater by the time I hit my goal weight and go off the induction phase of atkins. I got rid of some really bad habits already.

however, I have to say...you'll be better off eating a healthy, balanced diet and exercising (despite what one article says - if you ask the vast majority of experts, they WILL tell you exercise is important) than losing on a fad diet (which Atkins is, make no mistake) - fad diets can work - but often the results are short-term.
Also...hate to be a spelling nazi...but the word is "lose" not "loose". Loose is a completely different word.
