6%DOKIDOKI Girls in the Popples Room
Posted on March 6, 2010 in: Features, Tokyo Fashion News

What do you get when you mix cute 1980s characters with cute fashion and cute girls from the Japanese fashion brand 6%DOKIDOKI? You get a fuzzy pink bedroom full of so much cuteness that it must be seen to be believed.

Parco Factory in Shibuya recently hosted an exhibition featuring The Popples. As we reported previously, the World of Popples exhibition showcases original Popples artwork, vintage 1980s Popples toys, a place where you can take pictures of yourself in a special Popples photo set, and a gift shop selling Popples goods – including a line of exclusive Popples x 6%DOKIDOKI clothing and accessories. The exhibition – which recently ended in Shibuya, but just opened today in Nagoya – is the first Popples show in Japan since Mind Works Entertainment licensed the characters for the Japanese market last year.

1. The pink hair on that girl is amazing.
I wonder if it's her real hair?

2. Are you posting from 1992? That's only "mind blowing" to people who've never googled "cosplay".
You getting Popple-pusher pay to post pathetic pap?

3. I know all about Cosplay

I also know about some of the fashions going on in Japan. What I thought was mind blowing was that this kind of "Fruits" type fashion is going mainstream in Japan. Cosplayers go to conventions..Some even hang out in various areas like Yoyogi Park to grab attention. People dressed in a variety of styles including gothic lolita, visual kei, and decora, as well as cosplayers spend the day in Harujuku.

To see this becoming main stream is mind blowing to me. Oh..and it maybe "pathetic" to you, but I am sure there are always people interested in fashion trends, especially things that don't always happen to come out of the United States.

7. Nothing wrong with bright colors..
Infact, I rather think bright colors are nice, considering that most people in San Francico tend to wear browns, blacks, greys and alot of dark colors. Maybe its because its cold and foggy here at times, and darker colors keep in the heat. In Southern California you tend to see more brighter colors. I have noticed that in Florida as well.

I heard someone joke once, that if you see someone wearing white shoes in SF they are probably from LA. I don't know if thats even remotely true, however, I do know that bright colors around here are not the norm. Its like people want to fade into the background here, which is fine.

I think bright colors are interesting, and yes, I would probably wear them as well if I lived in other places, where its warmer.

12. How am I nasty? Whenever did I say that what you were doing was "BAD"?
What you're doing is whatever it is. I'm not "judgemental".

I'm just commenting about the parts of your post that I understand,
and asking questions about the parts I don't understand.

Perhaps I've been a bit too BLUNT? Wouldn't be the first time.

I often have difficulties communicating with people,
due to the fact that I'm seriously AUTISTIC...
I suspect that this may be one of those times.

I bear no malice toward you, and I would honestly like to know MORE
about what you are curently involved in and posting about.

Seriously, in all honesty,
I think that the endeavor you are currently posting about
is absolutely FASCINATING from six diferent directions,
and the photos remind me of a time long ago when some friends
attempted to start a "Something" with nothing but
an interesting backdrop and a whole lot of ATTITUDE.

It was a very big SOMETHING, while it lasted.

I hope your friends squeeze some $$$ out of this while it lasts.

Best luck to you and yours- knife-edged-golden-cloud family time.

"Jyuukai" wa nan desu ka? I have asked my Japanese friends. They do not know this word either. Perhaps you were thinking of another word? I am lost at your meaning. Yoroshiku onegaishimasu.

"jyukkai" = tenth floor? (confused.)

"Jikkai"(十戒 ) ??
