The TAMI Show is on PBS in Boston tonight, 9PM channel 44 |
|
It's a concert/show from the early sixties. It was also on at 7 on channel 2 and I caught some of it; since I missed the beginning, I'm watching it now on channel 44. I'm really digging it: the Rolling Stones, James Brown, Jan & Dean, the Supremes, the Beach Boys, Gerry & the Pacemakers--those are the acts I've seen so far, most during the 7:00 broadcast. It's wild to see everyone so young. Good music. The Miracles just came on now.

1. Must be fund-raising time |
|
. PBS shows GREAT musical acts during fundraising, but they seem to disappear otherwise (I know, I know -- there are still great music shows -- it's just that the Boomer-appealing blockbusters seem to disappear). . I remember seeing an incredible doo-wop special (and I'm not a big fan of doo-wop) and the full concert video to Pink Floyd's "Delicate Sound of Thunder" which may or may not be available now but which, as of 5 years ago or so, was only available as a bootleg Eastern European copy (the only one I could find, anyways). .

2. Of course it's fundraising time; you know your PBS. |

I remember last fundraising time I saw a great concert on PBS, though I can't remember what it was at the moment. This time, they have Jan from Jan & Dean in the studios with them during the begging breaks.
