The BlueIris Semi-Nightly Poetry Break, 3/08/10
"News Of"

another massacre; and the clean bright morning.
Keeping walking. 'Contradiction' is human--I know that.
And 'knowing'...a stirring from the place the whirlwind--something like fear--and watching my breath

to still that. Suddenly thinking somewhere in the breath--along
the breath, is an understood place. Somewhere--but somewhere
in passing--where the matter is reconciled.

1. Probably too fancy for me,
Edited on Mon Mar-08-10 12:36 PM by Tobin S.
but I'll give this a shot.

The main thing about the poem for me is the idea of the reconciliation of contradictions- contradictions being one aspect of human nature. After writing for a while and going to therapy I began to see those contradictions in myself. The main thing for me was pointing my finger at others who have hurt me in the past, but glossing over the times when I have hurt someone. Well, I have hurt people and people have hurt me. Maybe it's impossible to go through life without being hurt and hurting in turn. But I think after a certain point we can learn to stop it or reduce our transgressions to minor misdemeanors.

A lot of this writer's work has to do with the acceptance phase of recovery from traumatic events and relationships.

3. I wonder where this -- somewhere -- is.
I want to go there and meet someone.
