Post a pic of your favorite actor of the moment.
If it's a relatively obscure one, see if others can guess who it is in a reply.

If not, just post a pic of the actor doing something hilarious.

Well I could go on, but Kevin and Edward top the list. And when I say they are my favorites, I go by their acting only. Edited on Mon Mar-08-10 11:45 PM by RandomThoughts
I was speaking of her earlier career when she played Sarah Packard in the Hustler.

Eddie: Cause, ya see, twice, Sarah... once at Ames with Minnesota Fats and then again at Arthur's, in that cheap, crummy pool room, now why'd I do it, Sarah? Why'd I do it? I coulda beat that guy, coulda beat 'im cold, he never woulda known. But I just hadda show 'im. Just hadda show those creeps and those punks what the game is like when it's great, when it's REALLY great. You know, like anything can be great, anything can be great. I don't care, BRICKLAYING can be great, if a guy knows. If he knows what he's doing and why and if he can make it come off. When I'm goin', I mean, when I'm REALLY goin' I feel like a... like a jockey must feel. He's sittin' on his horse, he's got all that speed and that power underneath him... he's comin' into the stretch, the pressure's on 'im, and he KNOWS... just feels... when to let it go and how much. Cause he's got everything workin' for 'im: timing, touch. It's a great feeling, boy, it's a real great feeling when you're right and you KNOW you're right. It's like all of a sudden I got oil in my arm. The pool cue's part of me. You know, it's uh - pool cue, it's got nerves in it. It's a piece of wood, it's got nerves in it. Feel the roll of those balls, you don't have to look, you just KNOW. You make shots that nobody's ever made before. I can play that game the way... NOBODY'S ever played it before.
Sarah: You're not a loser, Eddie, you're a winner. Some men never get to feel that way about anything.

--------------------------------------
Eddie: Bert, you can't get off me now.
Burt: The bank is closed. I know when to quit. You don't.
Eddie: What do you want me to do?

Sara: Don't beg him, Eddie.
Eddie: Go back to the hotel.
Sara: Please, Eddie. Don't beg.
Eddie: Go on back to the hotel.
Sara: Doesn't any of this mean anything to you? This place, the people. They wear masks, Eddie. And underneath the masks, they're perverted, twisted, crippled.
Eddie: Shut up!
Sara: Don't wear a mask, Eddie. That's Turk, Eddie. He's not going to break your thumbs. He'll break your heart. He hates you because of what you are.

--------------------
Gordon: All I want is the money.
Sarah: Sure, sure, just the money. The aristocratic pleasure of seeing him fall apart. You're a Roman, Bert. You have to win more.

And it is also true, just like with other religions and atheist, some people that consider themselves Christians are more messed up then others.

in this particular case, Piper Laurie's portrayal is probably something you would view as stereotypical, but the portrayal itself is the worst nightmare of...well, anyone who isn't biased towards Brian DePalma ( fantastic director he is )

62. Steven King has a blind spot when viewing Christians.
He does many good comments on many things, and poses many questions, some in good form some bad, but when he portrays Christians he only sees part of them. There are Christians like that I am sure, as there are people of other religions like that, but in my view there are far more that are not like his portrayals.

Now that you mention the movie, I remember it, although I like what they, in my view, wrongly called dirty pillows :)

Yet I am definitely against the burning down of people, even when they are mean. I think there are better ways, in that movie the sadness for me is how the girl gets hurt from both sides, her mother, and the people around her, how the book portrayed that she had no one to turn to, then she becomes like those people by destroying them, and herself. In my view that is one of the goals of bad, to make other people become bad also.

So the movie seems to take bad parts of many things, but it is a tale about vengeance and mean abuse, so it is one of those that shows what to avoid in my view.

64. The main character ( Carrie ) most definitely got the raw deal there
she also got revenge...your feelings on revenge and mine do not mesh

Let's just say that she should have lived and gotten some help, considering the upbringing she had would most definitely excuse her ( in my eyes, at least ) from her lack of control of the worst her powers unleashed...believe me, there were times in high school I wished I had that power just so I could fry the living shit out of your bastard devil child ( that is, if you had one of those ) who tormented me day in and day out....no compunction in doing so. That is the tragedy...what she did at the end is ultimately viewed by all as terrible ( evil ) but she was far far from that. Watch the movie

65. That is one of the ways power might corrupt a person though.
I often think, Revenge is best served cold, is the idea that it is done without hate or anger, but with better ways and holding your own values, many times a person is still redeemed from some wrong done to them.

My view is that we should try and forgive and move forward trying to even be kind to enemies, and know that vengeance belongs to God not us. Although I know people have different views, and I have felt the tug to desire revenge on many issues for many years, so I understand that also.

I think for revenge to be just, it requires perfect judgement of people and situations, and I know I do not judge perfectly so I try to avoid revenge. That does not mean things should not have consequences, but they should be for justice not revenge, so the intent is not to hurt another, or make them feel hurt, but to keep them from hurting anyone else, and keep other people from doing what they did.

I think a bad person should be able to be escorted to jail without hating them or wanting them to suffer, but just to keep them from hurting other people. Then you do not give the bad person part of yourself, if you let them get you angry at them, you give them some control over what you feel. If you forgive them, yet still work to protect people from them, or go against them even with kindness, it seems to give a more clearer view of situations.

67. Understood, and with respect. Rent "Carrie"...this is the situation
but she was raised to fear everything and raised to be an outsider by a psychotic mother ( truly truly psychotic...just wait until you see Piper Laurie's portrayal of Ms.White ). That is about as far as I'm going to go with the movie...if you have any interest in watching it, I do not wish to spoil anything else for you ( I know I have spoiled plenty already )

As far as feelings of revenge, from time to time ( not every day, though ) I do have those feelings when I encounter the rude customer in line at the check-out counter buying groceries giving the cashier a hard time over something...and just wishing she would....oh, why bother

When I get into conversations about high school with friends, I wish I could go back in time and beat the ever-loving snot out of the people that bullied me and gave me ( and my handful of friends ) a hard time....but why bother

Good never seems to prevail over evil, so if you can't beat 'em, join 'em....only to infiltrate 'em and gain their trust just so I can wipe out as many evil fucks as I possibly can

That would be joyful...fulfilling for me

I do a little bit of it every day, in fact

69. I see that a little differently also.
Edited on Tue Mar-09-10 02:43 AM by RandomThoughts
I actually find that Good does prevail, although ideas of what is victory change that view for many people.

As far as infiltrating and whiping out evil, I think in terms of non secrecy, so the deception to infiltrate is not something I choose to do. So it really is not an option for me.

Lets say someone does something good, and even depends on others that indicated they would support that good. Then that person does what you say and betrays them to destroy them.

I do know some people that are bad, infiltrate the trust of people trying to do good, but that does not bother me when i see that either.

I actually look for that and use it to great effect. It gives me a muzzle flash and highground for effects.

So if someone betrays me it does not get me upset in anyway, nor is someone not betraying or betraying something I worry about, because those things are other peoples decisions. They have different outcomes, but do not effect my choices of what I choose to believe or think.

But I know about the type you discuss, and being really kind to them, with the best intents is the best way to lock and load, then not worrying about what there choice is, is the best way to continue on with peace of mind.

81. Yup.
She was also on Battlestar. I'm not quite as gay for her as I am for Starbuck, but...yeah.

75. Yep
Rob Morrow who's currently on Numb3rs. Always found him to be a very natural actor, in kind of a Jimmy Stewart style.

72. Men want to be him, women want to be with him...
He was supposed to be the secondary foil of the series, but Sawyer's just so damn charming he ended up being the hero of a show with at least 10 protagonists.

There's a special place in heaven for pretty people.

76. Sam Witwer(sp) played Doomsday in Smallville,
played an army dude in the Mist, and was a cop in a few episodes of CSI Vegas, he was the guy who maced the perp with the wrong mace, and when Brass hit the dude with the taser, dude went up in flames.

:)

My favorite actor at the moment is...well, no one really.

Didn't watch the show until it was on Blu-Ray, so I was like, "Hey it's that guy from the Star Wars videogame!"
