48. Yeah, and as with everything she did, there was controversy.

One of her DU friends announced her passing, and there was much discussion of it. She had always claimed to be an attorney and a famous writer who stopped using her real name. She had been on DU with several different names, and had built a reputation for trickery, so some wondered whether she had really died, and searched in vain for obituaries under her supposed real name.

To make matters more interesting, someone claiming to be her sister popped up in one thread and wrote a brief explanation of her life that was either a very bitter sisterly farewell, or a very clever satirical portrayal of OLL as a deluded wannabe writer with one minor book and a need for attention. The sister made it more suspicious by saying she knew nothing of DU until googling her sister's name and finding the site, yet she knew a couple of insider details of the place.

So OLL is either deceased, or she is still hanging at DU in several clever guises playing Andy Kauffman/Elvis Presley jokes on us. Leave it to her to leave us in mystery and debate.

She was a pain at times, but she was DU family. I miss her. Though I don't always miss her posts. :)

I've been around as long as all those others, and I remember them, but I've been mostly a lurker. There was such love and friendship in the old days, and although I didn't much participate, I felt it through reading all of your posts. Occasionally, when facing personal problems in my life, I would post about it in the lounge. All of these "strangers" would rally to my defense. DU seemed such a kind place.

I know there are still kind people here, but I don't think it is like it used to be.
