this may sound a little weird.

but we took all of his work shirts with the company logo and burned them in the back yard.

very therapeutic.

And now we're toasting it with Dublin Dr. Pepper.

:toast:

We heard the customers are mad since my husband was fired. Life is good.

4. Good for you! Once when I got laid off, I bought a large sack of crabs
and a case of beer on the way home, and had a party till it was all gone.
Enjoy life - fuck the bosses.

9. we sort of did that on Saturday.
I made him go to the Irish Festival with me...
I demanded that he have a good time, and drink beer! and so we did!
Saturday took the edge off...

but tonight was cathartic.

and yes, that old boss can go f' himself.

I know to many people without jobs or working part time for far less pay.

There are two living ( a couple) living in our RV, a nice RV.

They needed a place to live after they lost their house.

They both have jobs now but the pay isn't the same, so with us they stay.

This is will become the future, lots of people living together just to make it.

The bottom will fall out of this old rusty bucket called America onless something gets done real fast.

I am sorry your husband lost his job.

I love real Dr. Pepper.

15. I was almost homelss myself years ago.
Somebody helped me out

I just watched a show on netflix about people in New York, people who had been making good money.

The jobs are gone so 4 people are renting rooms in this woman's house so she can keep the house.

This may be the future.

I love real Dr. Pepper, need to get some more bottles.

I just wonder what it will be like when the bottome just drops out.

Will the last person with a job turn off the light.

Try to stay positive if y'all can.

12. Good for you and him!
It's happening to SO FUCKING MANY of us. It's a fact of life in this country today.

I approve of celebration, very much. Why should we let it beat us down? Or make us question our own worth--fuck that!

There is a certain magical-thinking industry that makes its money from victim-blaming self-help books. You know the kind. The ones that tell you to THINK POSITIVELY enough that you won't get laid off, won't die of cancer, won't ever be lonely, etcetera ad nauseam. Fact is, that shit happens to good people all the goddamn time, and it is NOT within their control, and it's cruel to pretend that it is. It's the same kind of shit that makes women say about other women, "Well, if she hadn't been dressed like that, she wouldn't have been raped." As if there is a list of rules they can follow that will actually guarantee it will never happen to them, and they get karma points towards their own safety for "enforcing" those "rules."

Bullshit. Bad shit happens to good people. And when it does, IMO the healthiest reaction is to say, "Fuck them. Their loss." And have a cathartic ritual burning, if necessary.

I think it's time for that cross-country road-trip that I've always wanted to do.

Thank you, AT&T (and don't buy their crappy service).

19. Could there be an opportunity here for your husband?
The husband of our pharmacist(an engineer with specialized skills and knowledge)was laid off from the local company where he worked for 15+ years. Clients of the company were upset so they approached him to provide them with his services directly. He's now making more than he ever did working for the company that laid him off.

20. that is possible, but I don't know if that would happen
BUT I would LOVE THAT.
In fact, he's having lunch with one of them tomorrow....would be awesome.
I think they had even talked about it in the past...so who knows.

the kind of business he is in though, the bond would have to be so big...I don't know if we have that kind of insurance capabilities.
He'd have to be somebody's employee. I certainly wouldn't mind it if he worked for them.

Guess we'll just have to see what happens.

28. heh - I had a similar experience
The only job I've been laid off by, I was working in the accounting department (which consisted of the Controller, one accountant, and me- when they hired the accountant, they decided they didn't need me anymore).

A couple years after leaving, I looked them up because I couldn't remember their address/phone number for a job application - found out the company had gone under because the steel mill they provided repair services for had sued them for over-billing of time worked and fraud. :)
