Five Thursday questions
1. Have you ever had a significant crush ruined due to politics? And part 2 of question - have your crushes changed lately? (for both parts, I mean celebs and people you know)

2. Do you have any Irish heritage?

3. What's your favorite Awards show, if any?

4. What's your favorite kind of cheese?

5. March Madness is coming soon - any team you are predicting to win it all?

My answers:

1. part 1 - Not yet. I was thinking it would happen with singer Leslie Mills, since on her Twitter page she was following this guy with a nutcase blog/site. But her regular Tweets are very reasonable, sounding like a Democrat or liberal at times. So I'll reserve judgment, and I know that following doesn't necessarily mean support. She since took him off her front-page favorites.

part 2 - I've had a few changes, though most are the same. New list of biggest crushes:

actresses - Alyssa Milano, Natalie Portman, Jennifer Connelly, Kaley Cuoco, Zooey Deschanel, Amber Tamblyn, Sharon Case (plays Sharon on Young And The Restless), Adrienne Frantz (plays Amber on Y&R), Marnie Schulenburg (plays Ali on ATWT), Elizabeth Hendrickson (plays Chloe on Y&R), Alison Lohman, Amanda Seyfried, Salma Hayek, Lindsay Sloane, Minka Kelly. HMs are: Ashley Greene, Kristen Stewart, Thandie Newton, Candice Accola, Yvonne Zima (plays Daisy on Y&R), Anna Kendrick

singers - Alison Sudol, Leslie Mills, Andrea Corr, Michelle Branch, Joanna Pacitti. HMs are: Anna Nalick, Ingrid Michaelson, Cassadee Pope, Katy Perry

other - Kris Williams from GhostHunters (politically, her Twitter looks good from what I've seen)

2. Yes, a little

3. The Grammys because I'm a music fan, though I do enjoy the Oscars - they put on a good show, and predicting is fun

4. American cheese

5. I'd say Syracuse. Villanova doesn't have enough depth this year.

1. okay
"1. Have you ever had a significant crush ruined due to politics? And part 2 of question - have your crushes changed lately? (for both parts, I mean celebs and people you know)"

Not really. I tend to find up-tight, angry, me-me-me-me conservatives to be pretty unattractive out the gate. Strong, beautiful people are liberals.

"2. Do you have any Irish heritage?"

None known.

"3. What's your favorite Awards show, if any?"

Olympic figure skating.

"4. What's your favorite kind of cheese?"

Depends on the application. I generally prefer Italian cheeses.

"5. March Madness is coming soon - any team you are predicting to win it all?"

No. I don't care about sports, except for certain Olympic events.

6. Okay
1) No my crushes haven't changed much of late. And no, I've never had one ruined by politics. Seems to me that the only guys I find attractive tend to be liberal...
And I'm not saying who my crushes are. Although I've noticed I'm becoming more musically inclined in that area...
2)Not a drop. Eastern European.
3) Used to like the Oscars. Not so much anymore. I guess the Emmys cause I watch a little TV.
4) Like most cheeses, especially Cheddar. I do NOT however like basement cheese or bromage (don't ask...:puke:)
5) I'd love to see my Maryland Terps win it. Since its not likely that will happen I'd like to see Syracuse. But I'll take anyone BUT Duke..:puke:

8. Answers:
1. No, I've never really had a crush on someone with whom I disagree on heavy matters like politics.

2. Almost my entire heritage. On my dad's side, my dad was actually the first one born in America. On my mom's, we go way back here, but it's still almost all Irish, except for a little German and English that we don't like to talk about. ;)

3. The Grammys

4. Speaking of Irish, I've recently gotten into this awesome Irish cheddar that my mother-in-law discovered at the local grocery store. It reminded me how great cheese could be.

5. Man, I really, really, REALLY hate to admit this, but I think the goddamn muthafuckin' Kansas Jayhawks will pull it off. They look unstoppable.

Yeesh. I feel unclean after writing that. :puke:

1) Pretty much too old for crushes (or the ones I have even make me feel squicky  ) Politics never played into that kind of fantasy.

2) Don't know of any real Irish heritage, but we are all Irish on Paddy's day!

3) Don't watch tee vee, don't really get award shows. Back when my in-laws were alive and we did the weekly dinner/bbq at their house there was always some country music award show on - do they have them every week?

4) Queso Mennonita, longhorn (colby) are probably top two, but ...CHEESE! Most all of it is good!

5) That's about sports right? :P

10. I'm 33 and think I have more than when I was a teen
Just one of those things that's personal. My crushes generally reflect a range of age 20-40 (I think Kristen Stewart is still 19,) but in actual looking, I'd probably focus on the 25-45 range - though the right person could be a little younger or older.

12. answers
1. Most people I know are moderate or liberal. As far as celebrities, I don't everyone's political positions. Most people say Britney Spears (who I love!) is a Republican because of her statement back in 2003. I think she would have made the same statement regardless of who had been in office. I doubt she follows politics closely. She could very well be a Republican considering she's from the rural south but I still love her. I know she's supportive of gay marriage so she's doesn't seem socially conservative.

2. Yes

3. I love award shows so it's hard to pick. The Grammy's are nice because I've heard many of the nominees. I like the Oscars too but I usually haven't seem many of the movies ( I only saw Avatar and Up this year) so it's harder to judge the categories.

4. American Cheese

5. I have no idea. I do brackets when there's a contest involved. I usually pick based on the cities/states I prefer, lol.

I agree about Britney; I think she supports whoever is in office. Have you heard when this year her CD might be released? Not really a fan, but I like some of her stuff. :hi:

Unfortunately, still no info. on Michelle Branch's CD.

18. Hi mvd
The original rumor was Britney's new single would be out in March (supposedly produced by David Guetta) and the new CD in June. Her website, however, posted a screencap from TMZ with Bullshit stamped on the rumor. My guess is the CD will be out in late summer at the earliest. I'm really looking forward to it.

I know...I was actually thinking about Michelle's CD the other day. I wonder what's going on.

1. Have you ever had a significant crush ruined due to politics? And part 2 of question - have your crushes changed lately? (for both parts, I mean celebs and people you know)

No. I try to never let politics get in the way of any actors that I like. I separate the art from the artist, especially if they are hot. And there are no politicians that I find hot.

2. Do you have any Irish heritage?

A whole lot. My maternal grandma is full fledged.

3. What's your favorite Awards show, if any?

I guess the Oscars.

4. What's your favorite kind of cheese?

Just one? Can't pick. Cheddar, feta, provolone, swiss, etc.

5. March Madness is coming soon - any team you are predicting to win it all?

I just don't care about basketball.

20. The five most boring answers you'll get.
1. Have you ever had a significant crush ruined due to politics? And part 2 of question - have your crushes changed lately? (for both parts, I mean celebs and people you know)

No crushes ruined due to politics, but I learned a couple of years into my first marriage that my ex-husband's politics, religious views and general worldview were (and are) 180 degrees opposite mine.

2. Do you have any Irish heritage?
I'm told my maternal grandfather was "part Irish" but matters of heritage are not something I celebrate. They're more like "background factoids" to me.

3. What's your favorite Awards show, if any?
Beyond their value as current events, I'm not interested enough to have a favorite.

4. What's your favorite kind of cheese?
Velveeta? Cheez Whiz?

5. March Madness is coming soon - any team you are predicting to win it all?
Nope. I only follow college sports as a current event. No favorites.

21. I like these -- thanks!
1. Have you ever had a significant crush ruined due to politics? No, it's such a deal breaker for me that I don't even get crushes on people whose politics are unknown to me. And part 2 of question - have your crushes changed lately? (for both parts, I mean celebs and people you know) Celebs definitely, or just enjoying their art is ruined for me even if it's not a cruch. IRL, the only person I have a crush on is my SO and I know where he stands!

2. Do you have any Irish heritage? Yes, a little more than half.

3. What's your favorite Awards show, if any? The Golden Globes.

4. What's your favorite kind of cheese? a really strong cheddar like Black Diamond or Montgomery Cheddar.

5. March Madness is coming soon - any team you are predicting to win it all? My team won't be in it so I'll widely grab from the Big Ten and go with Purdue because I'm friends with a guy who works at their public radio station.

23. Five Friday answers -good questions MVD
1. Have you ever had a significant crush ruined due to politics? And part 2 of question - have your crushes changed lately? (for both parts, I mean celebs and people you know)

Part 1. In terms of celebrities, I'm fortunate in that the celebrities that tend to lean Republican are (1) people I've never heard of or (2) celebrities whom I never particularly liked in the first place. But I will concede that I had a long-time crush on Gail O'Grady that was ruined when I found out she was a Republican last year. But there's an upside to that -it now means that the shows that I taped with her on it can now be taped over, meaning I have more video space to tape new shows

In terms of people I know, I know pretty much where they stand from early on so it's not really an issue

Part 2 -Yes, I've got a few new crushes

Ruthie Henshall, Linzi Hateley and Lisa Thornhill are three that come to mind

2. Do you have any Irish heritage?

Not to my knowledge, although I can always be surprised

3. What's your favorite Awards show, if any?

I used to like awards shows. Now, for the most part, I find them boring and tedious

4. What's your favorite kind of cheese? Any kind of cheese melted

5. March Madness is coming soon - any team you are predicting to win it all? I have no idea what you are talking about here:shrug:

2 - Yes, I'm Scottish/Irish

3 - I can't really think of any. Do magazine articles on the top CDs of the year count? :)

4 - Jalapeno Cheddar

5 - I don't know. I'm totally out of the loop on this. They need to schedule March Madness at a later date, sometime after hockey season ends. Late June Madness works for me. Get right on that, NCAA!!!
