Left calf, on the inside.

Quite a nice little welt.

Spring is on the way!

1. I remember when I lived in Massachusetts (from birth until age 16)...
...lying in bed in the summer, and there would always be that one mosquito who would fly into your ear and "BZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ..."

So you'd have to get out of bed, turn on the lights, spot him, wait for him to land on something, whack him, and go back to bed.

An hour later, "BZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ..."

2. I found the first house cricket of the season in the kitchen last night
He was just sitting on the pantry door. I picked him up (to the sounds of "uuuuhhh" from the 7 year old number one daughter) and threw his butt outside. And the ants have invaded the kitchen and bathroom - spring is indeed coming!

3. Just heard a cardinal singing for its mate through my slightly cracked open living room window
When it is mild enough to do so in the early spring, I like to let our indoor cats smell some fresh air for a while, from the stand I attached to the windowsill.

4. 50 degree day today--first of the year

6. I'm in northeast central Florida, near Daytona.
It's finally pushing the 70's again.

And we've had plenty of rain in the past few days.

But still, it was a rough winter for many Floridians.

And it's good to see a sign of that ending.
