Happy birthday to James Taylor.
I started with the Apple album with "Carolina in My Mind" and went on from there to everything he's recorded.

4. Thank you for that link.
A lot of people liked this song when they first heard and haven't gotten tired of it.

3. Happy Birthday JT
So, goodnight you moon light ladies, rock-a-bye sweet baby James.
Deep greens and blues are the colors I choose, won't you let me go down in my dreams?
And rock-a-bye sweet baby James.

5. Once James Taylor told an audience that that tune was "a cowboy
song."

It kind of is, but it's a lot more than that, too.

I think writing lullabyes for adults is a rare gift. James Taylor has that gift.

6. My parents are big JT fans, and so I became one, too.
It helps that I was named after him!

8. Very cool. Very cool indeed, Odin2005.
I've heard him in concert several times. The best of those concerts was one at Tanglewood in western Massaschusetts. Phoebe Snow was supposed to open that show but her baby decided to be born without checking the concert schedule!

Those damn babies -- they're always thinking of themselves and not music concert scheduling!

The record company asked Emmylou Harris if she would bring the band and open instead on short notice. She did.

James Taylor and Emmylou Harris at Tanglewood of a clear July evening -- let me tell you, it was not bad at all.

:hi:

7. Happy Birthday JT. You did a lot to define my youthful heart.
And if I sang "Sweet Baby James" to my oldest son when he was a baby once, I sang it a thousand times.

9. Your son is lucky you sang such a fine lullabye to him and
I think we're all lucky that that lullabye is around to sing.

A fine, fine song it is.
