Most recent albums you 'discovered' or rediscovered
As in, you heard them but never really HEARD them

Me?

Stones - Exile on Main Street - I swear, I could put "I Just Want to See His Face" on endless loop, and I'd be happy. And the rest of the album is amazing too. I can't believe I never gave this CD a serious listen, as long as I've had it.

Serge Gainsbourg - La Historie du Melody Nelson - Wow, French Pedo Rock, who woulda thunk?

Big Star - #1 Record - When I first heard this I thought "Oh, so that's where Cheap Trick learned it" and put it away. Then I rediscovered it and thought - wow! They are so much BETTER at it than Cheap Trick!

1. Ruth Notman
Kate Rusby was “just totally blown away” The Independent made her debut an Album of the Week and The Guardian called it one of the “Debut Albums of the year” .Now Ruth Notman returns with a real musical journey that picks up where “Threads” left off.
A balance of traditional material, self-penned songs and well chosen covers are given Ruth’s usual, unusual treatment. From epic film score-like arrangements to simple accompanied delights, The Life of Lilly is a treasure trove of stunning delights

2. Pink Floyd "Animals"
I first heard it as a young teen and dismissed it because it didn't "rock".

13. Their most underrated album
One of my favorites, easily. Best application of George Orwell's "Animal Farm" in music to this day.

14. i always thought of it as their most 'rock' album, one where they most got away from the 'prog/art'.

15. It is a stripped-down album
Very true - they just use guitar, bass, drums, and basic synth, without layers and layers mixed over each other. No guest saxophonist, no background vocals, no frills.

I still have my original on vinyl.

6. Dave Mason "Alone Together"

I casually mentioned to my husband last year that I would
dearly love to have the Dave Mason collectible album that
had the marbled vinyl.

He surprised me with it at Christmas, and it is SPECTACULAR!!

This song, in particular, soothes my stoner soul.
The guitar work is the best I've ever heard.

8. OOOOOH!!!
Awesome album! I saw The Three O'Clock open for REM in 1985; I went out and bought this album the next day. I've been listening to it for almost 25 years.

9. I bought it on cassete and couldn't replace it once it wore out.
I found it years later on vinyl (at Nice Price in Chapel Hill) but my ex wife ended up with it in 2000.
So I've been trying to find a digital copy for ten years. I finally found a vinyl rip on some random guys website
a few weeks ago. I'm very stoked.

Letting the ex walk with that album is grounds for malpractice!

10. The Ocean Blue-"Cerulean"
A band that sounded like they were from northern England, but actually hailed from Harrisburg, PA. There's a lot of the swirly, synth-and-guitars New Order/Echo and the Bunnymen thing going on.
