Winter is Coming: HBO greenlights George R.R. Martin's "A Game of Thrones"
Edited on Sun Mar-14-10 08:16 AM by NewJeffCT
The pilot, plus 9 episodes. Sean "Boromor" Bean is slated to play Eddard Stark and Lena Headey from "300" and The Sarah Connor Chronicles is to play Cersei Lannister. List of the cast at the fan-made video below:

The Ides of March came early this year... on the 2nd, actually, when HBO ended months of suspense by giving us the green light with a ten-episode order (that's pilot plus nine) for the GAME OF THRONES television adaptation.

(If you have been living on the moon for the past few years, you may not know that HBO optioned the books a few years ago and ordered the pilot last year. It was filmed in October and November in Scotland, Northern Ireland, and Morocco, and has been in post-production ever since). The show stars Sean Bean as Eddard Stark, Peter Dinklage as Tyrion Lannister, Lena Headey as Cersei Lannister, and... well, hey, better than list everyone, why don't I just show you in this video:

3. They did a really fine job of casting
A lot of those characters look EXACTLY as I pictured them, particularly the Stark children.

The one exception is Lena Headey who I don't see as Cersi at all.

5. When I first started reading the series...
I had pictured Sharon Stone, but she's too old for the part now.

4. I'm really surprised at how spot-on much of the casting is.
The Starks, especially, look pretty much exactly how I imagined them. I also didn't know that the guy cast as Sandor was in Hot Fuzz. :D
