Second Breakfasts!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
|
Bauernfruhstuck mit Frankfurter unt Cheddarkase
This farmer breakfast is traditionally made with ham or sausage. This will serve one hungry democratic farmer or give cholesterol blockages to 4 metro-Dems.
6 jumbo eggs 4 All beef hot dogs, chopped to match size of potato chunks 3-4 potatoes, cut into chunks (could be boiled potato left overs or even potato salad) 2 cups rough chopped scallions (green and white parts) 0.5 c Grated cheddar Cheese 0.25 c chopped fresh parsley 2 tbs milk Salt and Pepper to taste Optional: ¾ c julienned sweet bell pepper cut in half (it’s prettiest if you have red, yellow and orange)
Preheat oven to 425 F Whisk eggs, milk, salt, and pepper together Heat bacon grease in an oven safe skillet (if you don’t have bacon grease, a bit of vegetable oil) Brown potatoes then add and carmelize scallions, adding peppers last so they will soften slightly Remember, timing is everything, don’t burn the veggies! Fold veggies so they are mixed, pour in eggs, turn off heat and stir as eggs stiffen. Top with the grated cheese, and put in the oven until cheese melts, Garnish with parsley, cut into 4 wedges.
Eat until your heart says STOP!

1. My mom used to make a variation of that |
|
Except, in place of the hot dogs and cut potatoes she would use corned beef hash.

Kein Frankfurter! Kein Frankfurter! Frankfurter habe kein Geschmack! Die Wurst fuer dieses Rezept ist Mettwurst, Jagdwurst, kielbasa oder chorizo. Frankfurter nur fuer Frankfurterbrat mit Sauerkraut, Senf und Gewurz-Gurken. (You posted a German recipe, I felt it was my duty to use their language to tell you not to put fucking hot dogs in it.)

Somehow chorizo in this recipe seems to harken back to Maximilian or Maxamillion or whatever. . .

You gotta admit, though: wieners are bland as all get out, you'd be better with ANY other kind of sausage. About half a pound of Jimmy Dean Pure Pork Sausage would be excellent in this.

The second breakfast is typically a lighter meal or snack eaten around 10:30 in the morning. It consists of coffee, pastries such as monkey bread and the like, or some sausages. The typical sausage is a white sausage, Weißwurst, which is considered the specialty of Munich. The sausage is prepared during the early morning to serve during the second breakfast. It is served with pretzels, sweet mustard, and wheat beer. The meal is roughly similar in concept to the British elevenses, though elevenses is little more than a colloquial term for a mid morning snack. In Poland second breakfast usually consists of some snacks like sandwiches, or pastries, but may consist of light dessert type dishes like chocolate pudding or kisiel.
