I'm having someone come to install a new power supply unit on my computer sometime next week... is tipping customary in such a situation?

1. You are PAYING to have a new PSU put in your computer? |
|
Here's what you do:
Step 1: take the lid off your computer and find the data plate on the power supply. Write down the number of watts it puts out. Step 2: go to Best Buy if there's no local computer store in your area, and buy a power supply at least that big. Step 3. find all the screws holding your old power supply in. Take them all out with a magnetized screwdriver and lift the old power supply out. Screw the new one in its place. Step 4: there will be a shitload of cables coming out of the old one going into your computer. Unplug one cable from the old power supply. Plug in the same cable from the new one. Step 5. repeat step 4 until everything's switched over. Optional Step 6: dip old power supply in liquid shit and throw it into the next teabag rally.

2. I really don't trust myself on this |
|
A while back a faulty RAM card was stopping my computer from starting up properly, and I had to have someone come from dell to remove it because I was too afraid I would break something by taking it out LOL. Luckily it was covered by warranty at the time so it didn't cost me anything, but yea, I'd rather just pay a guy 30$ to come do it for me so I don't end up having to pay more than that to fix the damage.

3. Optional Step 6 is awesome! I'd like to see an organized "Option 6" campaign around the country, |
|
tea bag rallies being constantly pelted by used shit-covered power supplies!
I appreciate the fun of throwing heavy shit (literally) at tea baggers, and also totally appreciate the dadaistic aspect of protesting by power supply.

To reiterate - No.
Here is my tipping policy - if they are a waiter or waitress in a restaurant - tip.
If they are anyone else - don't tip.
Not trying to be rude but it's too difficult to distinguish all the different tipping rules with different people. Most of the people who help me out and do a great job, are ones that you aren't supposed to tip, while I typically get sh*t service from people I am "supposed" to tip.

7. If it's an employee I've always tipped, if it's the owner |
|
I don't tip. Many of the employees of computer companies freelance, that's how I got my guy, and his rates are better and he can come in the evening, and has even come to do a repair on a Sunday.
