LeftyFingerPop's daily depression-talk (3/18/2010): everything you do is for naught |
|
You could spend your entire life taking perfect care of your teeth. You could spend thousands and thousands of dollars in crowns, root canals, semi-annual cleanings, braces, etc. Your teeth are perfect.
Then, when you are in the grocery store one day, some guy all hopped up on some shit will walk up to you and knock all of your perfect teeth out with one punch because he was hallucinating that you were that guy Harry who owed him money 20 years ago.
*sigh*

you think too small in your hopelessness.
When we die all we've done goes away. Even if people remember us, they will die and very very soon all trace we were here is gone. The names on stone erode, but sooner than that the perpose behind the carving fades and then they are just marks on a rock in a place where no one knew you.
Any attempt to leave your mark fades before the endless march of time. 3500 years passes before the stone is unearthed and people and places you could never imagine look on at 'art' and wonder why, who, when, for what reason.
BUT- way before that, you are dead.

4. Holy crap! I'm really hoping that didn't happen to you or any one you know. |

Otherwise, the metaphor was really cool.
