You like horseradish?
On the History Channel's "Food Tech" they showed how they make horseradish.

Guy ate a little spoonful, I could see his eyes water up. :D

14. Considering that I'm pretty old and have been exposed to the damn stuff
over and over for decades, it's doubtful I'll ever learn to like it. It tastes to me like some kind of corrosive chemical, maybe something you'd strip paint with. Sorry if I'm not a decent human being.

26. Love love love horseradish
and will try to grow it this year although I know that it's supposed to be an invasive vegetable/herb. Like many good things, it must be taken in moderation. But whoo-boy, nuthin better to clear the sinuses! And make you weep like a baby whose rattle was stolen.

Now I hafta go downstairs to the fridge and find some to snort.

28. The best bar in the world...
.
... is about 20 miles NNW of Philadelphia in the rural suburbs.
.
Once a year, a local would grind up a bunch of horseradish and
bring a big tub of it into the bar.
.
The bar kept a couple of crockpots going and sold cheap CHEAP
roast beef sandwiches until the horseradish lost it's "dangerous"
edge (if I remember right -- repeated exposure to air tempered
the punch-in-the-sinuses quality it had -- took about 1-2 weeks).
.
LOVE horseradish with beef. Don't remember if I actually needed
a whole pinky fingernail's worth of this evil lusciousness when
they first unleashed it on the oh-so-suspecting and oh-so-eager
community every year.
.
.
.
.
.
Now that I think of it... I don't think ANY of the regulars had
head colds during those times, either. Kicked viral ass, it did.
.
Opened up your sinuses BIGTIME. If you were the type to do coke,
you had to scale WAY back when snorting... as an oz would almost
certainly be vacuumed up with even the meekest of sniffles.
.
.
Now that I think of THAT... I think our local dealer used to be
the one who brought in the horseradish.
.
Geez... THAT'S brilliant marketing strategy.
.

31. Lightweight!
.
Once, at summer camp, I had dropped trou to apply some Ben-Gay to my upper
thighs. A momentary lapse of focus... a truly horrific misapplication -- and I
had TWO wasabi balls.
.
The two counselors present were on the floor -- helpless at the sight of me
running bow-legged round and round and round and round the cabin, trying
to create as much of a breeze as possible.
.

I tried that mustard at the Mustard Museum in Wisconsin and was hooked instantly. It's about the best compliment to a roast beef sandwich I could think of. Mustard and horseradish were meant to go together.

41. Love it. My first horseradish memory:
Grandpa took me downtown to Jeb's Seafood restaurant on Saturday.
Just me and him.
I was around 7 or 8.
He introduced me to the proprietor, 'Mr. Jebelese', a Greek gentleman.
Grandpa knew just about everybody in 1940's Birmingham.

We were shown to a booth.
There was a small jar of some kind of white stuff on the table.
Grandpas said "Here, Buddy. Smell THIS!"
And thrust it under my nose.
I took a BIG whiff and tears came to my eyes.
He and Mister Jebelese laughed.

They weren't being cruel.
Just having a little fun with me.
I didn't eat any of it on that day, but I came to love it.

and i eat pickled ginger by the fistful. love horseradish and mustard crunchy peas. love chili peppers. now i love raw onions, garlic, and ginger.

... i think i should mix a big batch of diced raw onions, garlic, ginger, horseradish, mustard, and chili peppers into a delicious paste. i wonder what would happen if i brushed my teeth with it.

 :9

oooh, i can just imagine the orgasmic follow-up of drinking a perfectly chilled Coca Cola right after, where the bubbles burn ever so sweetly and the released carbon dioxide rolls up into an air pocket and comes out my back palate and out my nose as a gust of burning gas...
