...a long time ago, so they are paying the price.

recognition they deserve. Can I ask you a question? What does that button on your signature mean? Is those colors the Irish flag?

(oops, two questions)

There has not been a single... even decent band since the early 80's and the HOF needs to string along the inductee's until one decides to come along :D

29. Agree
Not a big fan, but they are the foremost metal act of the 1980s. I'd vote in Motorhead as well, since they influenced both metal and punk.

I've been to sold-out Maiden shows before that are just fucking crazy. The Flight 666 DVD was a total eye-opener too, seeing Maiden fans in third world countries was a trip!

I'd vote em in, of course. But the "establishment" ain't in a big hurry to acknowledge a band whose first big hit in the US was a song about the Antichrist.

Same holds true for a band named after Nazi prison camp prostitutes fronted by a suicidal epileptic, apparently.

26. Moody Blues were excluded because of that godawful cheesy crap they made in the 80's.
Granted, a lot of bands made godawful cheesy crap in the 80's, but the Moody Blues knew better.

I had successfully blocked that shit out of my mind until Mike Malloy started using one of those damned annoying 80's Moody Cheese songs to lead off the second hour of his show. (He still uses a classic 60's Moody's song for the third hour)

Billy Joel? Elton John?

And Genesis has a pretty shaky track record, post Peter Gabriel.

35. Damned if I know?
Never was an ABBA fan, never will be. Don't hate them, just complete indifference. I could probably count the number of Billy Joel songs I can stand on one hand, and Elton John's early stuff was great, but he went downhill around the time that UNI records (his original US label) went out of business.

As for the Phil Collins-led version of Genesis, they had their ups and downs. At least you could tell the difference between a Genesis album and a Phil solo album up until about 1986 or so. After that it was all the same shit. Collins solo/Genesis/Mike & the Mechanics.... why bother making three different albums when the same shit is on all three?
