From his "Bowi" EP... his response to Bowie's "Low" album

Or Madness "One Step Beyond" -- close enough to instrumental, I'd say. Wonderfully fun video...

Allow me to reiterate.

Someone got some this morning!!!

.
You wanna talk about the voice as an instrument, check out some of
Phillip Glass' works.
.
Saw him on SNL and couldn't figure out which musicians were producing
the most ethereal sounds in the piece.
.
Turns out there were two "vocalists" sitting among the orchestra.
.
BEAUTIFUL!!!

31. One of my favorite Montrose tunes.
Although not his composition, he certainly made it his own. Montrose doesn't get the recognition he deserves. One of the "cleanest" of the rock heroes. His arpeggio mastery is phenomenal.

40. If there's any truth in what Jeff Blazy once said about him...
...the reason he doesn't get the recognition is because he's...as Blazy described him..."Attila the Hun."

San Jose's KOME used to feature the "Blazy & Bob" show...they have recently reunited and are on mornings on a Santa Rosa FM "classic rock" station.

Anyway...on KOME, they used to have live morning broadcasts at local clubs. Ronnie played at one of them when "Open Fire" was released, and he did play "Town Without Pity" as it was getting heavy airplay at the time.

The next day, discussing the performance, Blazy basically said that he and all in attendance were in awe of the man's chops, and rightly so, but Ronnie the man was a different matter entirely. That's when he dropped the Atilla reference, although saying what he said about a guy who was gracious enough to come on his show was kind of low behavior.

It always amazed me, though, that he could have produced work as significant as the first two albums with Hagar, then "Open Fire," then Gamma, then "The Speed of Sound"...but he was never HUGE, outside of that early period. From what I can tell, his last major release was Gamma 4, the reunion CD, in 2001. He had a couple of CDs that were available from his Website only, and on New Year's Eve this year, played in a tiny little club about two miles from me.
