Looked at a few childhood neighborhoods, and they look quite different than I remembered as a child (even the ones that hadn't changed).
One house I lived in was on a major street and had a huge plot of wooded land in the backyard. The entire property is now a Wal-Mart.
One house was in a developing subdivision, with lots of young trees. Those trees have grown considerably in the past 25 years or so.
What's really amazing is the amount of commercial development and redevelopment that has occured since. Quite a trip!

4. Whenever I sell something on Ebay I like to look up the persons address on Google street view |
|
I don't know why. I guess if they were scammers they wouldn't have a big sign over their house saying "WE SCAM EBAY HERE". But it makes me feel better.

I also like to tour cities I never been too and visit somewhat historical locations. My PC is too slow for that kind of thing so I haven't used it an awhile. Bing's Birds Eye View is a neat feature as we.

6. Oh yeah. What I did today was use street view to retrace... |
|
the route I took riding a bike across the north of England, from Whitehaven to Sunderland. Brought back great memories, just as I remembered it. There was only 1 section, about 3 miles, that was not on street view.

Our home in Detroit was brick, so it has survived longer than most in the now rapidly abandoned and decaying neighborhoods surrounding it. I wonder though, if it will remain standing after the city is shrunk by bulldozing entire sections of it eventually. Really sad to witness from a relatively short distance, the gradual destruction of what really was a great place to grow up during the 50s-70s.
