I just finished a 26 hour work shift.
Yes, I did go home for an hour, and I did stop for a another hour in between as well; but, nonetheless, I just have been up working continuously, and rigorously. I did so because I have a fear of not being seen as perfect at work, which could endanger my well-being, and the well-being of the one I love. It's a crappy system, this capitalism...

2. I'm an economist.
I spend long hours in an empty office running regression analyses and reporting on alternative methodologies are quantifying energy savings from commercial demand response programs... fun stuff...

7. I worked 16 straight once and so tired I couldn't get to sleep
I hope you don't have that problem. Nothing is worse than no sleep and another 8 hours shift. The brain just stops working after that. You start walking around as if one of your feet is nailed to the floor.

8. Last time I did that, I earned a week's salary
Edited on Tue Mar-23-10 08:37 PM by Xipe Totec
straight time for the first 8 hours,

double time for the next 8 hours,

triple time for the next eight.

triple time plus one hour vacation for each hour thereafter.

By the time I finished, I had open sores under my arms and on my thighs from wearing the same clothes, covered in caustic drilling mud for that long.

Nearly got killed twice by drill pipes falling down the ramp crosswise.

I would never do it again.
