I guess I'm old, but I like Ginger Rogers. "Bachelor Mother" up next at TCM. Love it.

A favorite, and they just showed "Vivacious Lady" (stupid title), the only pairing of Ginger and Jimmy Stewart. I cut the politics and watched it. Great stuff (1938). If you haven't seen "Bachelor Mother," though, and are burnt out by politics, I recommend.

Both movies also featured the wonderful Charles Coburn. "Bachelor Mother" features the wonderful and incredibly young David Niven.

You could do a lot worse. P.S. Ginger was a hottie.

1. Bachelor Mother is one of my very favorite movies.
I'm actually a big Ginger Rogers fan, even though she was more or less a winger. Goose vs. pate, as my husband would say.

Love Niven, too, so Bachelor Mother is particularly fun for me.

2. When I'm feeling bad about my country,
and I'm afraid of where we're going, I watch '30's movies. Especially '30's comedies. And I feel better again.
Ginger was wonderful. You know the old line: She did everything Fred Astaire did, only backwards and in high heels.

3. Hey, I pulled out "Stage Door" last night to watch...
...didn't get to it, though, hopefully tonight I will.

4. That's a great movie, though very strange
I first saw it a year or so ago - before that I'd never heard of it. Among other things, that "baby" was probably able to walk and chew sticks! And the ending was so peculiar.

"Stage Door" - I just watched that not three weeks ago, but couldn't resist watching it again.

7. I think the baby was just homely as hell. But of course, he/she would be over 70 now.
I cut slack here. I loved the scene where Niven says she couldn't speak English, because she was Swedish, and then she tells off her "rival." Being of Swedish descent, I thought it was a hoot. Just one of those old movies that stand up well; I don't care about Ginger Rogers' politics, she was a favorite.

8. Oh it was very fun and I liked it a lot
none of it made a lick of sense, but who really cares?

My sister and I laughed and laughed every time that baby came into sight though. He looked so old I expected him to start smoking cigars. With his "grandfather".

9. By the way, Go Lions.
A brave avatar. I share your fandom.

10. I know!
I'm about ready to make a seasonal switch to the Tigers, though I might have to do a little Wingie dings in between. But I was getting flak over in the sports forum and I'm not the type that backs down when taunted.

I even still buy Lions' gear. I bought a pair of Lions' socks this year and wore them to a game - in Seattle!
