moody
it's raining. I woke up thinking... okay, have to want to be alive. but sometimes...

sometimes I'm a nihilist, without the ferret, tho.

update 1: I'm not only moody and a nihilist, I am paranoid.

after posting about that thing that isn't (if I need to explain this I will but really don't want to link to the thing that isn't), I was at work and this man was there and I turned around from some stuff I was doing and he was looking at me and laughing and I thought "ohmygod, what if someone somehow knows who I am after I wrote all that stuff."

don't ask me why I thought that... I told you I was paranoid, okay? it doesn't have to make sense.

maybe he did it cause I'm funny looking. without knowing I'm also ridiculous. I'm trying to think of reasons why someone would be laughing at you when there's no one else around. someone you don't know. he wasn't being mean it was just...huh?

did I mention I'm feeling very moody and ridiculous? and a little bit paranoid, but only that once, really. I hope.

update 2: I did not run off this nice man who was, it seemed, sort of maybe going to ask me out. actually, he's sort of asked me out before but I've always just sort of not acted like that's what it was because he's a nice guy and, while I'm nice, see above.

I still think I'm too messed up by things I went through to have a real relationship with someone.

not to mention feeling especially fugly.

I got The Wire as an xmas present and my vcr player now decides to stop playing the sound for some reason. so, I either have to turn it off and on repeatedly to see if that makes it stop or watch the dvd on my computer.

damn it. so now I'm also grumpy.

moody, paranoid, ridiculous, fugly and grumpy.

it's like I have five mental midgets taking control of my brain.

the good news is that, back in the winter, I helped this man who lost his job and is homeless. other people have given him work. just odd jobs, but he's making some money. he came over and did some things here that really, really helped me because I am overwhelmed with all these books that I need to start selling but am first cataloging for a db... long story, but that's a good thing.

so, moody, paranoid, ridiculous, fugly, grumpy, but not homeless, so far, so that's a good thing.

what do you do to cheer yourself up when you're having a RainyDog day? can you pass that this way? thanks.

1. When I'm REALLY REALLY blue...
.
...I eat a BUTTLOAD (sorry) of fiber.
.
Then I can pass that in, you know... that way.

.
I almost forgot -- FIRST, I go in and make sure my TP is going OVER...
going under in time of need COULD bring me right back down again.
.
.
.
Glad I could pass this along in this way.

4. yes, see, "The Wire," above
which is, btw, a fucking AMAZING story.

it's like a documentary that will never get made. except it's not as bad as rl in the circumstances it shows.

is the shit. One of the best shows ever to air on the teevee. And Dominic West can cheer the gloomiest gal...

11. agreed. all around.
I haven't seen the whole thing yet.

I like to make sure I keep current with the last decade, when possible. I don't know why I didn't watch this when it was on originally.

but I've found I really prefer to watch something like this after the season is over.

this show has broken my heart about ten times (nothing to do with mcnulty...he would be sooo much trouble) - but Wallace and Bodie and - I'm not to the end of the whole show so don't tell me the sad stuff after Bodie.

Marlo is like Enron or something.

12. OMG! The Wallace story was really sad indeed.
And you are so right about Marlo - he is scary as all hell. I thought Omar was the scariest one when I first started the show. Little did I know about MARLO. Oooh girl, you are in for such a treat. I wish I could watch with you. My best friend bought the box set, and we tore through it. Then, it was on to Six Feet Under - another gem.

Yeah, I'm like you, I tend to watch shows on disc once they're no longer airing. Another great series was 'Homicide: Life on the Street' - by the same folks that did The Wire. Fantastic! If you haven't seen it, I recommend getting it through Netflix.

14. did you watch The Corner?
also by Simon.

The Wire had some of the best crime fiction writers doing their writing. that's a genre, imo, that translates well into visual mediums. plus a former reporter and former cop - and the guy who played The Deacon was apparently a former drug lord who knew Burns when he was a cop.

I was worried the school story would be too maudlin, but I think they walked that fine line.

I didn't think I would get into Season 2 b/c of the change of setting, but it was just as good as season 1 - and then to tie the Greek back into the corners...

like a triple-decker Victorian novel. but better.

20. I have not seen The Corner.
Was it only on two seasons? I got it through Netflix last year, but I never got around to watching it. Thanks for the reminder - I will have to get on that.

As for season 2 on The Wire, we had the same reaction. We actually thought we had missed a couple of episodes on the last disc, because the change was so jarring. But yeah, it turned out to be fabulous.

The Wire was virtually ignored by the Emmy folks - criminal, imo. But rock on - you have some great drama in your future.

26. I haven't seen The Corner, either
but that's one I'll probably check out later.

I cannot believe this series was passed by. was it overshadowed by the Sopranos, you think?

Have you ever seen Arrested Development? I love that series. thankfully not so intense, well, intensely funny, to me.

28. I love Arrested Development.
I still have one more season to go, though. Should probably watch it before the movie - is there still going to be a movie?
Anyway, great show, great cast...Jessica Walter, David 'Never Nude' Cross, Jason Bateman, and the absolutely lovely Portia De Rossi.

although strangely, I do get the mini-van, franzia and bunco (whatever the freak that is) references.

did someone give birth to quints at a cracker barrel?
